This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the office.\nOur specialists have the in-depth knowledge to excel on the most challenging geotechnical assignments. We provide innovative solutions for foundations; underground construction; earth structures, including dams and levees; groundwater resources; and marginal building sites. Our geotechnical engineers and geologists also specialize in landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, seepage, expansive soils, and seismic activity. We have completed more than 1,000 subsurface and geophysical projects across the U.S. - from small-scale projects to large, complex dams, highways, bridges, and underground structures.\nWhat you’ll be challenged to do: The Roseville office primarily supports hydroelectric clients and their related projects. As a Geologist, you will support geologic investigations to characterize and evaluate geologic/geotechnical conditions and to identify geologic factors that could impact the design, construction, and/or long-term performance of engineered structures. Project work performed and supported by this role includes geologic field reconnaissance mapping to identify and characterize geologic hazards, logging and sampling geotechnical borings, developing geologic models through interpretation of available surface/subsurface data, and preparing technical reports. You will assist with a wide variety of projects, including rockfall evaluation and mitigation, storm damage assessment and repair, post-fire assessment and debris flow mitigation, fault hazard evaluation, seismic source characterization, geotechnical and structural instrumentation, and water conveyance inspections (canals, tunnels, penstocks).\nIn this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:\nOrganizes and performs geologic investigations to characterize and evaluate geologic/geotechnical conditions, and to identify geologic factors that could impact the design, construction, and/or long-term performance of engineered structures. Investigations may include field geologic mapping, subsurface exploration, and inspection of existing water storage and conveyance facilities.\nCompiles and analyzes geologic data, including geologic maps, aerial photographs, construction records, and other background document information\nApplies standard practices and techniques, interprets and correlates geologic and laboratory data, prepares cross-sections and geologic maps, recognizes and resolves discrepancies in results using a systematic process.\nRoutinely prepares field exploration work plans, job hazard assessments, and comprehensive technical reports with supporting figures and tables.\nPerforms construction observation activities including: general grading, foundation preparation, instrumentation installation, scaling of rock slopes, and rockfall mitigation measure installation, etc.\nAdheres to project quality assurance/quality control, and health and safety protocols\nPerforms periodic client coordination and attends project meetings\nPrepares project budgets, schedules, and reports needed to achieve project goals\nConcurrently manages multiple small projects or tasks within larger projects; management includes tracking of project resources, scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables\nDirects lower level geosciences/engineering personnel to accomplish tasks\nAssists with managing existing clients, developing new clients, and identifying new business opportunities\nWhat you will bring to our firm:\nBA/BS degree in Geology or related discipline\n5 - 10 years experience of increasing responsibility in engineering geology type projects\nCurrent Professional Geologist (PG) license in California\nExperience in developing, conducting, and managing engineering geology projects/tasks independently or as part of a larger team\nAbility to thrive on a diverse, close-knit, and dynamic geology team and willingness to learn from experienced mentors\nStrong, professional level oral and written communication skills\nProficient use of standard office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)\nWhat we prefer you bring:\nMS degree in Geology or related discipline\nCertified Engineering Geologist registration in California\nExperience with project management on multi-disciplinary teams\nExperience primarily related to water conveyance/storage, hydropower, and infrastructure projects\n Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation equipment \nExperience with assessing rock stability (in cut slopes and within tunnels), performing computer-based stereonet/kinematic analysis and rockfall simulations, and performing design of rock support/rockfall mitigation\nKnowledge of various professional software tools (Rocscience suite, RockWorks, gINT, LiDAR/photogrammetry software, GIS, etc.)\nOSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER Certification a plus\nRope access training or certification (e.g., SPRAT) a plus\nCompensation: The salary range for this role is $93,000 - $137,000.
