Who are we looking for?
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Document Controller based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, to support projects across our Central Canada Region. The successful candidate will bring strong document control expertise and experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
The Document Controller will coordinate project documentation and deliverables across multiple sector groups within GHD’s Central Canada Region. Support will vary according to project requirements and will be provided both in person and remotely.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Manage and maintain full control of project documents, including receipt, verification, registration, distribution, and filing.
- Manage and coordinate project deliverables and deliverable registers in collaboration with design teams.
- Manage and coordinate supplier and vendor deliverables and deliverable registers.
- Organize and maintain project documents in accordance with established document control procedures.
- Transmit documents in accordance with the Document Review, Approval, and Distribution Matrix using the project’s document management system.
- Maintain project communications and distribute documents to the appropriate project teams.
- Organize and maintain digital project documents and reference materials.
- Support design managers with other project controls activities.
- Support the design management team with project proposals and construction contract administration, as required.
- Proactively monitor the submission and progress of client and subcontractor deliverables and report on submittal status.
- Establish document control procedures, responsibilities, and reporting requirements to ensure effective and compliant use of the project’s document management system.
- Participate in project meetings to clarify document control requirements, including naming conventions, revisions, document standards, and formatting guidelines.
What you will bring to the team:
- Five or more years of document control experience, with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Experience in an engineering and/or construction office environment is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in documentation technology or an equivalent field of study.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is an asset.
- Working knowledge of one or more document management systems, such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Aconex, ASITE, and/or PM+.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam.
Please note:
The salary range for this position is $79,413 - $129,413. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
