As we continue to grow our Water and Infrastructure capability across the UK, we're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our London team and lead the delivery of technically excellent, multi-disciplinary projects across the water and industrial sectors.\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a senior engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with leadership capability and a passion for developing high-performing teams.\nAbout the Role\nAs an Engineering Manager, you'll provide technical and people leadership across a portfolio of water and infrastructure projects, ensuring the successful delivery of engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design and construction support.\nYou'll work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and discipline leads, providing technical governance, design oversight and mentoring to engineering teams while maintaining strong client relationships. You'll play a key role in developing capability within the business and supporting the growth of our Water sector offering across the UK.\nThe role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and associated civil and structural infrastructure.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams delivering projects across the water and infrastructure sectors.\nProvide technical leadership and governance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring quality, safety and compliance requirements are met.\nReview and approve engineering designs, calculations, reports and technical documentation.\nAct as Technical Lead or Design Lead on major projects and frameworks.\nSupport the planning, resourcing and delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality objectives.\nDevelop strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, acting as a trusted technical advisor.\nDrive collaboration across disciplines to deliver integrated, best-for-project solutions.\nMentor, coach and develop engineers at all levels, supporting technical excellence and career progression.\nSupport business development activities, proposal preparation and client engagement opportunities.\nPromote innovation, continuous improvement and the application of industry best practice.\nChampion a strong culture of safety, quality and sustainability across project teams.\nAbout You\nYou'll be an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background in water and wastewater infrastructure, coupled with a proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex engineering projects.\nYou'll Have:\nSignificant experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or water sector project delivery.\nStrong technical knowledge across water and wastewater treatment assets, pipelines, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.\nExperience leading multi-disciplinary design teams within a consultancy or contractor environment.\nDemonstrated ability to provide technical governance, design assurance and engineering oversight.\nStrong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.\nExperience managing project resources, budgets and delivery programmes.\nExcellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.\nA strong understanding of British Standards, water industry standards and engineering best practice.\nIdeally, You'll Also Have:\nDegree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE or another relevant professional institution.\nExperience working within design and build and/or major UK water frameworks.\nExperience supporting business growth, work-winning activities and client development.\nExperience developing and mentoring engineering teams.\nWhy GHD?\nAt GHD, we offer more than just a job.
