Working across all of IT, the role helps ensure current decisions create the capabilities GHD will need in the future. The role is future-first in orientation, focused on where GHD is going, what becomes possible through technology, and how enterprise architecture can enable better business outcomes.\nThe successful candidate will be a strategic enterprise thinker with strong business, technology, operating model, and portfolio judgment. They will be comfortable working with executives, senior leaders, business stakeholders, and technical teams. They must have enough technical fluency to guide architecture direction, but their differentiator will be enterprise perspective, strategic thinking, business outcome orientation, and the ability to connect current decisions to future capability.\nThis position can be based in Houston, Irvine, or Brisbane, Australia.\nWorking with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:\nEnterprise Strategy & Future-State ArchitectureDefine and maintain GHD’s future-state enterprise architecture.\nTranslate enterprise strategy and operating model evolution into technology direction, capability roadmaps, and transition pathways.\nIdentify capability gaps, dependencies, and opportunities required to support future business outcomes.\nDevelop and communicate a clear architectural vision for a more technology-enabled, data-driven, and AI-enabled enterprise.\n\nTechnology Direction & InnovationMonitor emerging technologies, AI capabilities, integration approaches, and industry trends.\nAssess their relevance, maturity, and potential value to GHD.\nIdentify opportunities to improve how work is performed, delivered, and scaled across the enterprise.\nChallenge current assumptions and present credible alternative approaches when appropriate.\n\nInvestment & Roadmap AlignmentInfluence major technology investments and roadmap decisions before delivery commitments are made.\nConnect business priorities to technology capability requirements and investment choices.\nProvide architectural input into strategic programs, business cases, and transformation initiatives.\nHelp leadership understand trade-offs, sequencing considerations, risks, and future implications of key decisions.\n\nEnterprise Architecture GuardrailsEstablish practical architecture principles, standards, and reference patterns that guide enterprise decision-making.\nPromote architectural consistency across all IT portfolios and groups.\nCreate lightweight, reusable guidance that enables teams to move faster with confidence while reducing duplication and complexity.\nEnsure architecture direction balances innovation, risk, supportability, and long-term sustainability.\n\nEnterprise Leadership & InfluenceAct as the enterprise architectural voice within strategic planning, prioritization, and transformation discussions.\nBuild trusted relationships with senior technology leaders across GHD.\nLead the Enterprise Architecture capability and provide direction to the Senior Enterprise Architect - Portfolio & Standards.\nSponsor the future assessment and classification of architect roles across IS&T.\n\nWhat you will bring to the team:\nUndergraduate degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline. Advanced degree a plus.\n10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, business architecture, technology strategy, digital transformation, or related senior roles.\nDemonstrated experience working with executive and senior leadership stakeholders.\nExperience developing enterprise technology strategies, capability roadmaps, and investment recommendations.\nExperience operating within complex, global, and matrixed organizations.\nExperience within professional services, engineering, consulting, or similarly complex knowledge-based organizations desirable.\nDemonstrated experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, future-state architectures, and technology roadmaps.\nStrong understanding of how technology enables business strategy, operating model evolution, and organizational transformation.\nBroad knowledge across enterprise applications, cloud technologies, data platforms, integration, security, AI, and digital capabilities.\nAbility to translate complex technology concepts into clear business options, recommendations, and decisions.\nStrong executive communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.\nAbility to balance long-term strategic thinking with practical delivery realities.\nExperience navigating ambiguity, complexity, and competing priorities.\nBuilds trust through collaboration, enterprise perspective, and sound judgment rather than authority alone.\nThe salary range for this position is $166,238-$277,063. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centers. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
