See where your commitment could take you.\nWho are we looking for?\nWe’re seeking a Senior Protection Engineer to join our Electrical Delivery team.\nBring your protection engineering expertise to major Australian projects supporting renewable energy, power networks and critical infrastructure. Working with utilities, government authorities, asset owners and industry partners, you’ll help deliver reliable, affordable and lower-carbon power solutions across GHD’s global markets.\nWe support your needs. Build meaningful relationships and create lasting community benefit.\nWorking with a collaborative and capable team, you will:\nPrepare protection settings calculations and relay settings files\n\nPrepare and review substation secondary designs, technical reports, specifications and tender documentation\n\nWork with clients and contractors to define technical requirements during tendering and project delivery\n\nProvide technical and construction support throughout the project lifecycle\n\nScope electrical work and contribute to tenders and proposals\n\nLead a small team independently, allocating and delegating project work to support effective delivery\n\nArrange regular team meetings and mentor graduate engineers to build capability and confidence\n\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineers across GHD offices to pursue and deliver project opportunities\n\nReview design drawings, protection settings and reports to support consistent quality outcomes\n\nWhat you will bring to the team:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering\n\nSubstantial relevant protection engineering experience delivering projects for power utilities or other relevant clients\n\nExperience preparing protection settings, relay settings files and substation secondary designs\n\nDemonstrated experience in power system modelling using DIgSILENTPowerFactory, ETAP or similar software\n\nIt would also be helpful if you have:\nExperience delivering Western Power projects or working in a comparable utility environment\n\nExperience in substation secondary design across voltage levels from 11 kV to 330 kV\n\nKnowledge of protection schemes and IEC 61850\n\nWell-developed written and verbal communication skills\n\nA collaborative approach, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and support the development of others\n\nIf you do not meet every requirement listed, we still encourage you to apply.
