Ideally based in Cairns, you’ll help deliver practical structural solutions across bridges, transport, water, marine and broader civil infrastructure projects throughout Queensland.\nThis is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of project delivery while working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. You’ll also support the continued growth of our structural capability in Cairns; mentor developing engineers and contribute to new project opportunities across the region.\nYou will be connected to GHD’s broader Queensland and national technical network, giving you the benefits of a locally based role without limiting the scale or variety of your work.\nWorking with our experienced structural and infrastructure teams, you will:\nLead and contribute to the analysis, design and documentation of bridges and other civil structures.\nDeliver projects from concept and detailed design through to construction support and site activities.\nWork across a varied portfolio that may include road and rail bridges, marine infrastructure, water-retaining structures, culverts, pump stations and other public infrastructure.\nUndertake condition assessments and develop practical strengthening, rehabilitation and asset-upgrade solutions.\nCoordinate structural inputs across multidisciplinary projects and work closely with engineers, designers, clients and contractors.\nManage technical quality, budgets, programmes and project risks within your area of responsibility.\nBuild trusted client relationships and contribute to proposals and new project opportunities.\nProvide guidance, technical review and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.\nWhat you’ll bring\nYou’ll be an experienced structural engineer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems, working directly with clients and contributing to the development of others.\nA Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering.\nMinimum of 5 years industry experience as a Structural Engineer,\nMembership of Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) preferred, or an equivalent professional accreditation (e.g. CPEng), or the ability to obtain these credentials.\nDemonstrated structural design and analysis experience across bridges, civil infrastructure or a related structural discipline\nExperience delivering projects in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and industry requirements.\nStrong technical judgement, with the ability to develop safe, practical and constructible solutions.\nExperience coordinating project delivery, including scope, programme, budget and technical documentation.\nClear communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.\nAn interest in mentoring developing engineers and contributing to a collaborative technical culture.\nExperience across bridge design, structural assessment, rehabilitation, construction support or regional infrastructure delivery would be highly regarded.\nA career and lifestyle opportunity in Cairns\nCairns offers the chance to work on infrastructure that supports communities across Far North Queensland while building strong, long-term relationships with local clients and project partners.\nOutside work, the region offers an outdoor lifestyle, warm climate, shorter commutes and easy access to the coast, rainforest and surrounding regional communities.
