GHD

GHD is an employee-owned multidisciplinary professional services firm, headquartered in Sydney, Australia, providing engineering, architecture, environmental, advisory, digital and construction services for the water, energy and resources, transportation and property sectors. Founded in Melbourne in 1928, it has more than 14,000 people working from offices across Australia, New Zealand, North America, the UK, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. The firm recruits graduate and senior civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical and environmental engineers, scientists, project managers and technical directors, along with payroll and finance staff.

Bring your curiosity and determination to make a positive impact on the future of transport, and we’ll help you go all the way.

GHD’s Construction Phase Services group in Queensland has been providing contract administration, construction management and independent assurance services to government and private clients for over 30 years. Our team has contributed to major transport infrastructure projects including the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, Bruce Highway Cooroy to Curra and M1 Burleigh to Palm Beach.

We are currently seeking experienced Site Engineers with bridges, road works, rail and/or general infrastructure experience to join our projects in both metro and regional areas of Queensland.

This is a rare opportunity for ambitious Site Engineers to join an industry leader in contract administration and become part of a high-performing team delivering some of Queensland’s most significant infrastructure projects.

Working alongside respected industry professionals, you’ll have access to advanced contract management systems, proven delivery frameworks and the support of a collaborative team passionate about excellence.

If you're looking to accelerate your career, broaden your experience and help shape the future of critical infrastructure, we want to hear from you.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Supporting Senior Project Engineers and the Administrator’s Representative with contract administration, management and project reporting.
  • Preparing monthly quantity forecasts and estimates in collaboration with the broader engineering team.
  • Supporting project risk management, including updates to the risk register, forecast final costs and required contingency.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly reporting to TMR.
  • Working closely with Engineers and Inspectors to ensure accurate field records and agreed measurements are available to support the assessment of progress claims, variations and extension of time claims.
  • Assisting the Administrator’s Representative with the assessment and validation of cost and time claims.
  • Coordinating with the Project Planning Engineer on program updates and assessments of progress and delays.
  • Assessing monthly progress claims and preparing payment certificates for approval.
  • Supporting Senior Project Engineers in reviewing and verifying management plans, construction methodologies, programs, variations, progress claims and quality records.
  • Supporting audit and reporting processes across traffic, environmental, risk and safety management.
  • Maintaining relevant contract administration systems and project records.
  • Participating in project meetings and preparing and issuing minutes as required.
  • Building strong working relationships with the client, contractors and wider project team.
  • Working collaboratively with clients, the GHD team and contractors to identify and resolve issues, helping keep projects on track.
  • Supporting the Contract Administration team to ensure GHD meets its obligations under the contract.

What you will bring to the team

We’re looking for motivated engineers who want to build their experience in major infrastructure delivery and develop strong contract administration and commercial capability.

  • A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Membership of Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) preferred, or an equivalent professional accreditation (e.g. CPEng), or the ability to obtain these credentials.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the construction industry.
  • Previous experience working with TMR specifications and general conditions of contract.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a collaborative, high-performing project team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Previous experience in the commercial management of infrastructure projects will be highly regarded, as will TMR prequalification at SEC01 or SEC02 level.

Build your career with GHD

This is more than an opportunity to work on one major project. As a permanent member of GHD’s Construction Phase Services team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your capability in contract administration and major infrastructure delivery while learning from experienced industry professionals.

It’s an opportunity to broaden your technical and commercial experience, build strong client and industry relationships, and establish a longer-term career delivering complex transport infrastructure projects with GHD.
