We are seeking a senior transportation professional with a strong background in roadway design, PS&E development, project delivery, and technical leadership for projects serving Caltrans, counties, cities, and other public agencies throughout Northern California.\nThe successful candidate will provide technical leadership on a wide variety of transportation projects including highways, local roadways, complete streets, intersections, interchanges, active transportation facilities, roadway rehabilitation, corridor improvements, and federally funded transportation programs. This individual will serve as a technical resource, mentor staff, lead project delivery, and act as Engineer of Record and Responsible Engineer on complex transportation projects.\nThis position will be located in our Redding, CA office. Certain projects may require significant time working from client offices, project offices, or field locations as part of integrated project teams supporting the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects. Join us in the office three days a week to contribute, connect and excel in our vibrant environment.\nKey responsibilities include:\nTechnical Leadership & Project DeliveryServe as a senior technical lead, Engineer of Record, Responsible Engineer, or Engineer in Responsible Charge on transportation projects.\nServe in responsible charge for the development and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects and provide technical oversight throughout planning, design, and construction.\nLead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway, highway, intersection, interchange, complete streets, active transportation, roadway rehabilitation, corridor improvement, and multimodal transportation projects.\nProvide technical oversight and guidance for roadway geometrics, drainage coordination, traffic handling, complete streets design, ADA improvements, and PS&E development.\nOversee preparation and review of plans, specifications, estimates, technical reports, and engineering studies.\nEnsure compliance with Caltrans, FHWA, AASHTO, MUTCD, and local agency requirements.\nChampion technical excellence, quality management, and risk-based decision-making throughout project delivery.\n\nProject Management & Client ServiceSupport successful delivery of projects for Caltrans, cities, counties, RTPAs/MPOs, tribal governments, and other transportation agency clients throughout Northern California and the US West.\nManage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.\nServe as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders throughout project delivery.\nSupport construction phase services including RFIs, submittal reviews, design support, and change order evaluations.\n\nStaff Development & MentorshipMentor engineers, designers, and project managers.\nSupport technical development and succession planning within the transportation practice.\nFoster a culture of quality, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.\n\nBusiness DevelopmentSupport pursuit strategy, proposal development, interviews, and client relationship management.\nIdentify and pursue opportunities with Caltrans, local agencies, and transportation funding programs.\nContribute to growth of the transportation practice throughout Northern California and the broader US West region.\n\nEducation:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n Current California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required.\n12-20+ years of transportation engineering experience.\nDemonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, project engineer, design manager, engineer of record, or responsible engineer on transportation infrastructure projects.\nExperience leading multidisciplinary teams through planning, environmental clearance, design, PS&E development, and construction support phases.\nExtensive experience delivering transportation projects for Caltrans and/or local agencies utilizing state and federal funding.\nStrong working knowledge of: Caltrans Highway Design Manual\nProject Development Procedures Manual (PDPM)\nStandard Plans and Standard Specifications\nCA MUTCD\nADA accessibility requirements\nFederal-aid transportation project delivery requirements\n\nExperience developing PS&E packages and supporting projects through construction.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience serving as Engineer of Record or Responsible Engineer on transportation projects.\nExperience serving as Engineer in Responsible Charge for Caltrans and/or federally funded local agency transportation projects.\nExperience serving as Project Engineer, Design Manager, or Technical Lead on complex transportation infrastructure projects.\nExperience delivering federally funded local agency projects.\nExperience with major corridor improvements, complete streets, interchange, intersection, roadway rehabilitation projects, and non-motorized trails.\nExperience with alternative delivery methods including CMGC or Design-Build is desirable.\nExisting relationships with Northern California transportation agencies are highly desirable.\nExperience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.\nAs a multicultural organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
