We are bound to our stated vision and determination to address humanity’s most urgent needs: to make water, energy, and urbanization sustainable for generations to come.\nGHD is dedicated to driving bold, sustainable, and profitable growth by expanding and investing in our most strategically important clients.\nApply Today!\nWho are we looking for?\nOur Tunnel Group and Rail and Transit Group are growing and looking for a Tunnel Engineer to join us in Vancouver, BC, Canada.\nWorking with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:\nAssist with project work within GHD’s Rail and Transportation business and support other tunnelling projects across Canada or internationally, as opportunities present.\nAssist in responding to technical and administrative tasks associated with the development of tunnels and stations.\nCarry out analysis as directed by senior members of the team for tunnel liners and shaft design using PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc.\nPrepare tunnel reports and provide input to the tunnel component of proposals.\nAttend client meetings along with a supervisor.\nData Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.\nGeoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Contribute to well proposals by providing complex analysis and interpretation of geological/geophysical field data. Involves using advanced modeling techniques.\nReservoir Characterization and Analysis: Assist with reservoir characterization and simulation by compiling reservoir engineering data and helping to analyze it. This could include data from flow tests and well tests, as well as data on historical production performance.\nEngineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.\nKnowledge Management: Implement policies and processes, collect best practices and case studies, and participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in allocated projects.\nData Management: Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.\nTechnical Developments Recommendation: Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.\nWhat you’ll bring to the team:\nMinimum of 4 years working on tunnel and underground projects within tunnel design or construction teams.\nAbility to design deep shaft & shoring structures.\nExperience in the design of tunnels in soft ground and transit underground support of structures.\nConfident with analytical and numerical analysis methods and the ability to work with various industry-standard geotechnical software packages (PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc.).\nDemonstrate strong knowledge of the different tunnelling & shaft construction methods, logistics, equipment, and methodology selection.\nExperience in calculating tunnel-induced settlement, including analysis of damage to adjacent infrastructure.\nFamiliar with settlement instrumentation & monitoring.\nTunnelling construction experience with TBMs & precast linings.\nSoft ground tunnelling ancillaries, including ground treatment & ground freezing.\nFamiliar with the preparation of GBRs, along with the review of GDR and geotechnical investigation planning for tunnel and underground structures.\nAbility to prepare PSOS specifications.\nFamiliar with cost estimating & scheduling for tunnel/shaft construction.\nDemonstrated experience in the preparation of detailed design reports and construction reporting.\nSalary range: $77,550 - $129,250. The salary range is based on the preferred work location.
