Here you will find an environment conducive to helping you make the most of your abilities and skills.\nThis Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Resident Engineer.\nWe welcome your application if you believe you meet the requirements for this position.\nThe below listed responsibilities and requirements is assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions\nCore Purpose\nSupervises contractors on site on behalf of a client and ensure adherence to construction scope of work, which includes attending to site meetings and site instructions. Project implementation and supervision. Technical support and technical management. Programming, costing, quality control and Technical preparation.\nKey Performance Areas\nOverall direction of and administration of the construction contract and site staff in accordance with the requirements of the respective contracts.\nManagement of the construction package in accordance with GCC2015\nCommunicate the Engineer’s instructions to the Contractor\nReceive and check for compliance with contract requirements, all performance bonds, insurance certificates and policies and guarantees.\nLiase with local communities and land owners and confirm compensation payments in conjunction with the employer where required.\nAssist with obtaining required permits and related documentation necessary for the construction works.\nCoordinate compliance of Contracts with the team of Contract Participation Goal facilitators etc.\nMonitors the Contractor’s progress of projects on site and keeps in contact with the Senior RE\nRefers significant queries on design or engineering matters to the Design Engineer together with approval of materials and alternative design proposals as required\nEnsures that design specifications or other problems that may have relevance to future designs are brought to the attention of the design Engineer\nVerifies that the Contractor and his/her staff understand the obligations under the OHSA\nAssists with Environmental Management of the Contractor’s work\nLiaises with the relevant service providers to co-ordinate the alteration or relocation of their services\nLiaise with Health and Safety Agent, Social and Gender Specialist and Social and Environmental Specialists with regard to social, gender, environmental, health and safety plans, monitoring and reporting requirements\nReviews and Approves monthly Payment Certificates.\nAgrees measurement of quantities with the Contractor\nIdentify implementation/completion risks, program budget risks and developing risk management tools to avoid,mitigate and manage such risks.\nReview and evaluate claims and variations received from the contractor in conjunction with the Senior Resident Engineer\nMaintain a daily site diary for the contract\nEnsure consistent management of social and technical concerns\nRegularly reviews outputs from Assistant Resident Engineer to ensure accurate capturing / recording of relevant contractual information\nMonitors progress as per approved construction programme and negotiates rectification of delays and work not scheduled\nMaintains a costing system to monitor costs to date and the project final contract value\nPrepares Variation Orders for approval by the Employers Agent and Employer\nAssist the Engineer with the preparation of a list of outstanding works for the progression to Completion Certificate and issue to all concerned\nArranges the completion of “as built” drawings and Construction Report\nExamine and measure excavations, consent to work being covered up and instruct the Contractor to uncover work and search for defects.\nRequire the Contractor to repair and make good any damage or physical loss.\nApproval of practical and final completion certificates.\nCollate the submission of all reports, including the inception report and all subsequent progress reports, practical completion reports and final handovers and close out reports\nRequests Accident Reports\nRequests quotations for material\nInstructs the Contractor to have a qualified Site Agent to assist in or make measurements, and to furnish particulars\nRequest and record facts and circumstances relevant to a claim\nWitnesses all factual circumstances which have bearing on claims for extension of time\nManage all on site quality and administration requirements\nRequirements\nJo b Requirements\nQualification:\nTertiary qualification (BScEng or equivalent)\nProfessionally registered with ECSA as a PrEng\nProfessionally registered with SACPCMP as a PrCPM an advantage\nExperience:\n10 -
