This individual will serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automation frameworks that enhance the reliability, scalability, and security of GIC’s global network infrastructure.\nThe ideal candidate will combine strong foundational networking knowledge with advanced automation and coding skills, driving innovation across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. He/she is a senior technical leader who thrives on building, coding, and solving complex network challenges.\nStrategic Leadership and Vision:\nDefine and execute the long-term strategy for network automation, reliability, and observability across global data centers, cloud, and hybrid environments.\nDrive the transformation of network operations through automation, resilience engineering, and continuous improvement.\nPartner with senior stakeholders across Technology Group (TG) to align network strategy with enterprise architecture and digital transformation initiatives.\nChampion a culture of automation-first and reliability engineering across the network organization.\nNetwork Automation and Engineering Excellence:\nDesign, develop, and maintain production-grade automation frameworks using Ansible, Python, and CI/CD pipelines.\nBuild reusable Ansible collections, Python libraries, and REST API integrations for network and security platforms.\nImplement GitOps practices for network configuration management, including version control, automated testing, and continuous deployment.\nIntegrate automation workflows with enterprise DevOps toolchains (e.g., GitHub, Ansible, Terraform, ITSM tools).\nDevelop automated validation and rollback mechanisms for network changes.\nPerform hands-on development, testing, and deployment of automation workflows in production environments.\nAct as the escalation point for complex network automation and reliability issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and root cause analysis.\nEvaluate and implement emerging automation technologies to enhance scalability, reliability, and efficiency.\nFoundational Network Architecture and Operations:\nServe as the SME for core network domains - routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, WAN optimization, and hybrid cloud connectivity.\nProvide architectural oversight for critical network platforms including Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, F5, Zscaler, Symantec, and AWS.\nLead modernization initiatives to ensure high availability, security, and performance across the global network.\nDrive capacity planning, performance optimization, and lifecycle management to maintain operational excellence.\nEstablish and enforce network reliability standards, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid recovery from incidents.\nFirewall and Security Automation:\nDevelop and maintain automation for firewall policy management, rule lifecycle, and compliance validation across Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco, and cloud-native firewalls.\nIntegrate firewall automation workflows with change management and compliance systems (e.g., AlgoSec, ITSM tools).\nCollaborate with Cybersecurity teams to embed security controls and compliance into network automation and operational processes.\nObservability, Tooling, and Reliability Engineering:\nDesign and implement observability pipelines for network telemetry (e.g., streaming telemetry, SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow) integrated with Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK.\nAutomate health checks, anomaly detection, and self-healing workflows using observability data.\nCollaborate with SRE and platform teams to define and implement network SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.\nDevelop automated testing frameworks for network configuration validation, compliance checks, and pre-deployment simulation (e.g., Batfish, NAPALM, pyATS).\nImplement chaos and resilience testing for network automation workflows to ensure fault tolerance and recovery.\nCross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:\nCollaborate with Cloud, Security, DevOps, and Application teams to ensure seamless integration of network services into enterprise platforms and workflows.\nPartner with Cybersecurity and Compliance teams to ensure automation adheres to enterprise security and regulatory standards.\nManage vendor and service provider relationships, influencing technology roadmaps and ensuring alignment with GIC’s strategic direction.\nCommunicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing clear insights into network performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.\nMentor and upskill network engineers in automation best practices, coding standards, and tool usage.\nGovernance, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement:\nEstablish governance frameworks for network automation and reliability, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.\nDefine and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as automation coverage, change success rate, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).\nLead post-incident reviews, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational resilience.\nEnsure comprehensive documentation of automation workflows, network configurations, and operational procedures.\nWhat qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nEquivalent experience in large-scale enterprise network engineering and automation may be considered.\nExperience:\nMinimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on automation, reliability, and modernization initiatives.\nProven track record in designing and implementing enterprise-scale network automation frameworks using Ansible, Python, and CI/CD pipelines.\nDeep expertise in core networking (routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, VPN, BGP, OSPF) and hybrid cloud networking (AWS, Azure).\nExperience developing and managing AlgoSec or equivalent for firewall automation.\nDemonstrated success leading cross-functional programs involving DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application teams.\nStrong background in observability, telemetry, and network performance monitoring.\nExplore and evaluate emerging technologies such as intent-based networking, network digital twins, and AI-driven network analytics to drive continuous innovation.\nTechnical Skills:\nExpert-level knowledge of network and security platforms (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, F5, Zscaler, AWS, Azure).\nStrong knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, and DNS.\nProficiency in Ansible, Python, YAML, and integration with CI/CD tools (GitHub, Jenkins).\nExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and GitOps methodologies.\nFamiliarity with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Datadog).\nDeep understanding of network security standards (CIS, CSA CCOP) and compliance frameworks (MAS TRM).\nCertifications:\nAdvanced networking certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE) are highly desirable.\nAutomation and cloud certifications (e.g., Red Hat Ansible Specialist, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate) are a plus.\nSoft Skills:\nStrategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.\nProven ability to work independently as a senior IC while
