Join Gilead and help create possible, together.\nJob Description\nSenior Maintenance Technician (HVAC)\n Position Summary\nUnder the supervision of a Team Lead, the Senior Maintenance Technician (HVAC) is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing HVAC and related utility systems across the Gilead La Verne site. This role supports GMP manufacturing and facility operations by ensuring critical environmental systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.\n Specific Job Responsibilities:\nTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including air handlers, rooftop units, exhaust systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and related mechanical systems.\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and facility utility equipment.\nDiagnose system failures using technical manuals, drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and manufacturer documentation.\nMonitor and maintain temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and airflow systems that support GMP manufacturing environments.\nSupport building automation systems (BAS/BMS) and HVAC control troubleshooting.\nCoordinate maintenance activities on critical HVAC and utility systems with supervisors and site stakeholders.\nPerform filter replacements, belt replacements, bearing lubrication, motor alignments, and other routine mechanical maintenance tasks.\nAssist with HVAC system commissioning, qualification support, and performance verification activities.\nSupport root cause investigations, deviation investigations, and corrective actions related to facility and HVAC systems.\nDocument maintenance activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\nParticipate in shutdown planning and execution activities.\nPerform multi-shift work and respond to emergency call-outs as required.\nMay be required to perform duties of Maintenance Technician I and II as assigned.\n Knowledge & Skills:\nStrong understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, air distribution systems, and mechanical equipment.\nExperience troubleshooting chillers, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), exhaust systems, VAVs, pumps, and associated controls.\nFamiliarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).\nAbility to read and interpret HVAC drawings, mechanical schematics, and P&IDs.\nKnowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.\nUnderstanding of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.\nProficiency with CMMS systems such as Maximo.\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment.\nStrong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nKnowledge of industrial safety practices, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work requirements.\nAbility to operate lifts and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.\nExperience with pumps, motors, bearings, and rotating equipment.\nExperience with steam, chilled water, compressed air, and purified water support systems is preferred.\nBasic Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience maintaining commercial or industrial HVAC systems.\nExperience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated environment.\nEPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.\nExperience using CMMS software for work order management and documentation.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAssociate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical Maintenance, or related field.\nExperience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP manufacturing facilities.\nKnowledge of cleanroom HVAC systems and environmental controls.\nExperience with BAS/BMS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric.\nUnderstanding of cGMP requirements and deviation investigation processes.\nFor jobs in the United States:\nGilead Sciences Inc. is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment, and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment comprised of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
