This position performs advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair activities across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. The role supports continuous production by minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed in compliance with safety and quality standards. The Master Mechanic also serves as a technical resource for equipment-related issues and maintenance best practices.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nPerform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems to maximize operational reliability.\nDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC-related, and basic electrical issues using testing equipment, system observations, and maintenance data.\nExecute preventive and predictive maintenance programs in accordance with maintenance schedules and equipment requirements.\nPerform emergency and unplanned maintenance activities to minimize production downtime and restore equipment performance.\nInspect, disassemble, rebuild, and install equipment components, ensuring repairs meet operational and safety standards.\nFabricate or modify replacement parts and components using machine shop tools, measuring devices, and maintenance equipment as needed.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, and equipment history within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).\nMonitor and manage maintenance inventory levels, including parts, tools, and supplies, and coordinate procurement of replacement components when required.\nCollaborate with production and plant leadership to identify equipment improvement opportunities, support process enhancements, and reduce recurring equipment failures.\nSafely operate maintenance equipment, cranes, hoists, power tools, and other specialized tools while adhering to all safety requirements.\nMaintain current technical knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, equipment technologies, and regulatory requirements through ongoing training and professional development.\nSpecial projects and assignments as business dictates\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.\nSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a skilled trade apprenticeship, technical training, or related maintenance certification preferred.\n4-6 years of industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, or manufacturing maintenance experience required.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial equipment systems.\nWorking knowledge of electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and manufacturing automation.\nExperience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.\nAbility to read technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and equipment specifications.\nProficiency with precision measuring instruments, diagnostic tools, and maintenance equipment.\nMust have attention to detail and focused concentration.\nMust be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.\nMust be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.\nMust possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and use hands to handle tools and equipment.\nFrequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, parts, and equipment components.\nMay be required to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally greater weights with appropriate assistance or equipment.\nSpecific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nRegular exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving mechanical parts, and industrial machinery.\nFrequently exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, dust, noise, and vibration.\nHearing protection and other required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated areas.\nWork may occasionally be performed at heights or in confined maintenance access areas.\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS\nValid Massachusetts Second Class Fireman’s license required\nMust maintain internal powered lift license\nValid State Driver's License required.\nOTHER DUTIES\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
