Set on a 57-acre campus in the northern part of Baltimore City, Gilman serves roughly 1,000 students in three divisions. The School has a full-time faculty of nearly 140, and the average class size is 16 students.\nTHE POSITION\nGilman School seeks a dynamic educator to substitute for a teacher on sabbatical. This position involves teaching one section of pre-algebra and one section of Honors Algebra II. It includes performing other duties such as advising, proctoring (e.g., study hall, recess, etc.), and attending community events like assemblies.\nPriority Application Deadline: Friday, October 2, 2026\nQualified applications received after the priority deadline may be considered depending on the size of the applicant pool.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO:\nTeach one 6th-grade pre-algebra and one 8th-grade Honors Algebra II course with some geometry. \nAssist with advisory and homeroom activities.\nFulfill assigned duties, such as recess duty or study hall proctoring, as needed.\nInvolve her/himself in the overall life of the School.\nBuild healthy relationships with students and faculty.\nCommunicate with parents of students and advisees through written and/or oral reports at designated times throughout the year.\nTeach with the goal of keeping the Gilman community true to its mission.\nWHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:\nBachelor's degree in Mathematics.\nPrior Middle School teaching experience is preferred.\nExperience with an all-boys education is highly desirable.\nAbility to work closely, responsively, and collaboratively with others.\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills to utilize teacher notes and create a coherent 2nd-semester curriculum\nEmbodiment of the Gilman Five: Honor, Integrity, Respect, Humility, Excellence.\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:\nThe compensation for this role will be $250 per day.
