With the support of our leadership team and peers, our people are encouraged to share their perspectives.\nJob Purpose\nThe Welder is responsible for fusing metal components and other metal parts together for construction and/or fabrication.\nResponsibilities\nDisplays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.\nRead blueprints and specifications.\nFuse metal components using the SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW process.\nGrind, stamp, cut and drill material.\nOperate tools and equipment including overhead cranes, oxy-acetylene torches, gouging equipment and sub arc welding machines.\nDemonstrate a willingness to learn and ask questions.\nConsistently complete tasks with minimal errors, rejections and NCR’s.\nEnsure that all non-conformances are reported and that the shop, where applicable, maintains the integrity of the company’s ISO-9001 registration.\nAttend daily toolbox meetings.\nComplete housekeeping tasks.\nFollow work schedules.\nRead, understand and comply with all established procedures including Waiward’s safety policies and rules, safe work practices, procedures for machinery and equipment and complete any documentation as required.\nTake reasonable care and cooperate with the employer to protect the health and safety of themselves and their co-workers.\nParticipate in the HSE Safety Incentive Program by completing an SI card on a weekly basis.\nAdhere to all Company PPE standards, ensuring appropriate personal protective equipment is worn at all times.\nReport personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required\nWilling to work overtime when needed.\nMay perform other related duties as assigned. \nQualifications\nMust be a registered apprentice or an Alberta-certified Journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.\n CWB Welding Qualification Certification in FCAW/MCAW is required.\nCWB Welding Qualification Certification's (SMAW/GMAW) are an asset.\nDemonstrates a solid understanding of reading blueprints both in metric and imperial.\nBasic and Advanced Rigging Course is an asset.\nFLHA Training is an asset.\nCertified Overhead Crane Certification is an asset (can be internally delivered).\nAbility to lift up to 45 pounds.\nRespirator Mask Fit Testing Required.\nWHMIS. \nWorking Conditions\nThe incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise and numerous hazardous fumes.\nPhysical Requirements\nThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing weld specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.\n *Waiward is an equal opportunity employer.
