With the support of our leadership team and peers, our people are encouraged to share their perspectives.\nJob Purpose\nThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of projects from contract award through to final close out. This role oversees project teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships while ensuring safety, quality and profitability across multiple projects.\nResponsibilities\nDisplay a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and\nParticipate in management team activities as required, contributing to strategic and operational decision-making.\nEnsure project-level risk, issue, and opportunity receive appropriate escalation and resolution at the corporate level when required.\nAct as mentor and leader to the Project Management Team, establish best-practice project management standards.\nSupport pre-award activity, including bid review, risk assessment, and contract negotiation\nExercise due diligence in review of customer contracts and specifications to ensure alignment with proposal and executed agreements.\nLead project kick-off meeting, providing clear direction and alignment to all internal and external stakeholders.\nEnsure cross-functional alignment through communication of project requirements, risk, and opportunity to all Waiward departments.\nEnsure project setup and documentation align with Waiward project management standard sand departmental requirements.\nProvide leadership in contract change management, including timely customer notification, cost control, schedule impact evaluation, and invoicing.\nMaintain accountability for overall project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, billing readiness, and subcontract vendor performance.\nMaintain oversight of project schedule in coordination with drafting and production to meet delivery commitment.\nDevelop and maintain strong customer relationships while proactively identifying business opportunities and value-added solutions.\nParticipate in department-related human resources activity and support additional duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.\n8+ years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication, industrial construction, or related heavy construction environments.\nStrong knowledge of structural steel detailing, fabrication, erection, and applicable standards.\nProven experience with contract administration, including pre-award review, change management, and negotiations.\nDemonstrated ability to manage project budgets, cost control, earned value, and financial forecasting.\nExperience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules.\nProficiency in project management and ERP systems; strong Microsoft Excel skills required.\nExperience managing subcontractors and vendors for scope, cost, quality, and schedule compliance.\nStrong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication and client-facing abilities.\nDemonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.\nWorking Conditions\nHybrid working environment, combining office-based or remote working arrangements with regular attendance in the office, as dictated by operational requirements. \nMay require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines\nPhysical Requirements\nThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time, and extensive reading.\nThe incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.\nDirect Reports\nNone\nPerks & Benefits\nWaiward offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package designed to support your well-being, work-life balance, and long-term career growth, including:Competitive salary in a permanent, full-time position.\n\n3 weeks of paid vacation.\n100% employer-paid benefits, including extended health and dental coverage.\n\nHealth Spending Account (HSA) for additional wellness and medical needs.\nRRSP matching to help you plan for your future.\n\nPaid personal days in addition to vacation time.\nSummer hours for added flexibility during the warmer months.\n\nHybrid work options for better work-life balance.\n\nOn-site gym access to support your health and wellness.\nCareer growth and promotion opportunities within a supportive, expanding team.\n\nCollaborative and positive work culture.\n\nA variety of employee recognition and rewards programs designed to acknowledge your contributions and support your success.\n\n Waiward is an equal opportunity employer.
