This is a 1st Shift position: Monday - Thursday, 6AM - 4:30PM

The Foundry Operator (S-1) is an entry level operator that will become proficient with basic operations of the advanced casting foundry (ACF) process including wax, shell, mold prep, cast, finishing, core leach, grain etch, inspection, process flow, etc. The ACF is a newly built process area, and this role will have the opportunity to participate in the commissioning and development of new production processes, and ongoing training will be provided for process control and thorough understanding of auxiliary equipment. The training is geared towards learning to operate additional equipment and process areas which can lead to advancement into the Operator S-2 position. These positions require shift work and ability to work overtime when needed.

What You Will Do:

• Set up, operate, and monitor casting process and related equipment to shape metal into precision aerospace components.
• Perform hands-on operations in a machine-shop and foundry environment, including workstation/bench work, equipment setup, material preparation, inspection, and production-related tasks which may include bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds
• Operate and work safely around automated and robotic manufacturing equipment, conveyors, and powered industrial vehicles (PIVs), and other production machinery while following established operating and safety procedures.
• Prepare, mix, transfer, and handle chemicals, process ingredients, and bulk materials in accordance with established specifications, including work involving strong chemicals or potentially hazardous chemicals and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Handle, transfer, and dispose of production materials, chemical byproducts, and industrial waste, while maintaining housekeeping, environmental, safety, and quality standards with the assigned work area.
• Keep equipment and work area clean (5S).
• Read work instructions, blueprints, and specifications to perform machine setups and produce parts within required tolerances, install, adjust, and remove dies, fixtures, and tooling while monitoring equipment performance and identifying potential issues.
• Work safely and collaboratively with teammates to maintain production flow, troubleshoot equipment, and support continuous improvement.
• May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills - Responsibilities are not limited to the listed items above and can be changed or modified based on skill level, proficiency, and overall performance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
• Previous manufacturing experience operating production equipment, performing machine setups, or working in a similar industrial environment

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience operating or working around automated/robotic equipment, conveyors, PIVs, or machine-shop equipment
• Experience handling chemicals, process ingredients, bulk materials, or industrial waste using established safety and PPE requirements
• Experience reading blueprints and understanding critical specifications
• Experience performing machine setups, tooling or die changes, and equipment adjustments
