GPD seek to build a peaceful society through gender equality, social justice, democracy and governance.\n\nWe are recruiting to fill the position below:\n\nJob Title: Environment and Climate Change Coordinator \n\nLocation: Garki, Abuja (FCT)\n\nEmployment Type: Full-time\n\nJob Summary\n\nThe Environment and Climate Change Coordinator will lead the strategic design, implementation, and mainstreaming of climate resilience and environmental adaptation initiatives across GPD’s programmatic portfolios. The role ensures effective delivery of community-based climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives, disaster risk reduction, and green livelihood activities aimed at enhancing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities and ecosystems.\nThe Coordinator will oversee stakeholder engagement, capacity building, policy advocacy, proposal development for climate funding, and results-based project monitoring and reporting.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nEnsure adherence to GPD's safeguarding, accountability, and code of conduct policies during all activities.\nCoordinate with strategic partners, government agencies, donors, and relevant stakeholders to foster partnerships and resource mobilization for climate initiatives.\nDocument success stories, case studies, climate action lessons learned, and best practices from project implementations.\nLead on all environmental safeguards.\nLead data collection, research, monitoring, and evaluation activities related to environmental and climate metrics.\nLead the integration and mainstreaming of climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and green growth strategies into GPD’s programmatic thematic areas.\nConduct field assessments, community climate risk mapping, vulnerability assessments, and capacity-building training sessions.\nPlan and implement climate adaptation and mitigation, disaster risk reduction, and natural resource management activities in project communities.\nMobilize and engage community stakeholders, local authorities, and vulnerable groups to build grassroots resilience.\n\nQualification and Experience\n\nStrong skills in project implementation, community engagement, and climate risk monitoring.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently and lead multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.\nProficiency in data collection, technical documentation, and comprehensive report writing.\nMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Geography, Sustainable Development, Social Sciences, or any related field (a Master's degree will be an added advantage).\nStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and data visualization tools.\nStrong experience in donor engagement, climate fund proposal development, and resource mobilization.\nAt least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change adaptation, environmental management, resilience programming, or humanitarian/development work.\nAbility to communicate effectively in English;
