As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.\nSummary of Role:\nGlobalFoundries is seeking a curious and driven AI Software Intern to help bridge cutting-edge machine learning research and scalable software production. Working alongside senior software engineers, the intern will build, optimize, test, and deploy AI models within an AI platform while gaining hands-on exposure to the AI inference software lifecycle and AI processor architectures.\nEssential Responsibilities include:\nAssist with integrating, deploying, testing, and scaling machine learning models, including large language, computer vision, and predictive models, within production-oriented AI pipelines.\nAnalyze latency, memory usage, and computational footprint, and help optimize AI inference workflows for edge devices or cloud infrastructure.\nUse modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software prototyping, code development, testing, and debugging while following team engineering and review practices.\nDocument engineering designs, experiment configurations, performance benchmarks, software interfaces, and API architectures so work is clear, reproducible, and maintainable.\nOther Responsibilities:\nPerform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.\nRequired Qualifications:\nEducation - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.\nMust have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.\nFamiliarity with at least one major machine learning framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.\nStrong understanding of object-oriented programming and software version control using GitLab, GitHub, or related tools.\nAbility to navigate ambiguous technical problems, learn new tools quickly, and communicate technical trade-offs effectively.\nLanguage Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)\nAbility to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior related internship or co-op experience\nDemonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.\nStrong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.\nProject management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong planning & organizational skills\nFamiliarity with low-level, high-performance programming, such as kernel optimization, systems programming, or hardware accelerators.\nExposure to cloud systems such as AWS, and participation in AI/ML hackathons, open-source projects, or university research labs.\nExpected Salary Range\n$20.00 - $40.00\nExpected Salary Range\n$0.00 - $0.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.\nIf you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please contact us by email at  let us know the nature of your request and your contact information.
