This role is responsible for setting organizational operation models for the multi-site R&D teams in alignment with business and product development strategies, building a high-performing and highly engaged team, and driving talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.\nYour Role\nThe Director will provide overall leadership across planning, execution, and operational management, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong collaboration across sites and cross-functional teams.\nIn a dual leadership capacity (management + technical), this role will be accountable for the end-to-end quality of execution for one or more critical domains such as design, verification, or program execution tracking within product development initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Program & Execution Leadership\nDefine and drive execution strategy aligned with product and business goals\n\nOversee program planning, execution, and delivery across multiple teams and sites\n\nReview and govern plans, specifications, and execution milestones for owned functions\n\nEnsure strong execution discipline, predictability, and delivery quality\n\n2. Technical Leadership\nProvide leadership across key domains such as:\nDesign and micro-architecture\n\nVerification (simulation, formal)\n\nEngineering flows and methodology\n\nExecution tracking and delivery governance\n\nAct as a technical authority, guiding teams on architecture, implementation, and verification strategy\n\nEngage selectively in hands-on technical contributions based on business needs and individual expertise\n\n3. Team & Capability Development\nCoach and mentor engineering teams to elevate technical depth and execution rigor\n\nDrive process, methodology, and best practice improvements\n\nStrengthen team capability through structured development and knowledge sharing\n\n4. Quality & Operational Excellence\nOwn and drive delivery quality, consistency, and continuous improvement\n\nLead initiatives in:\nEngineering efficiency and scalability\n\nDevelopment system enhancements\n\nEnd-to-end delivery excellence\n\nJob Requirements\nQualifications & Experience\nMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline from a reputable institution is required\n20+ years of experience in digital front-end design, implementation, verification, validation, or project/program management for computational IP development\nProven track record in senior technical leadership or engineering management roles\nDemonstrated ownership of signoff accountability, delivery quality, and customer satisfaction\nProven experience in driving high-quality execution and elevating team capability, including leadership in complex delivery environments\nExperience in multi-site and/or multi-tier team leadership is highly preferred, with the ability to drive alignment across geographically distributed teams\nStrong expertise in:\nMicroprocessor architecture, memory architecture, and system architecture\n\nDigital design and verification methodologies across full product development lifecycle\n\nTechnical proficiency in:\nHDL and verification languages (SystemVerilog, Verilog, UVM)\n\nMicro-architecture, RTL design, and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM, formal verification, functional coverage)\n\nAuthoring and reviewing technical specifications and design documents\n\nProgramming and scripting skills, including:\nSystemVerilog, C/C++, Assembly\n\nPython, Perl, and other automation scripts\n\nHands-on experience with industry-standard tools:\nRTL design and verification tools (linters, simulators, synthesis tools, formal verification)\n\nFlow automation and engineering productivity tools\n\nCollaboration platforms (CI/CD pipelines, source control, issue tracking, project management tools)\n\nStrong program management and execution capabilities, including:\nRequirements analysis and objective evaluation\n\nProblem decomposition, prioritization, and risk management\n\nResource planning, task allocation, and execution tracking\n\nData-driven decision-making with clear articulation of execution strategy, business value, and ROI vs. risk trade-offs\n\nExcellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions\n\nGlobalFoundries is an equal opportunity employer, cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
