The opportunity to learn a great deal about the blossoming RISC-V architecture in cutting edge applications with industry leading customers.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDevelop embedded software components for RTOS-based SDKs, including:\nLow-Level Drivers (LLDs), HALs, RTOS abstraction layers, and BSPs\n\nExample/demo applications to showcase peripheral functionality and performance\n\nSupport post-silicon validation (AVV) by:\nCreating validation test apps that reuse RTOS SDK components\n\nBringing up first silicon and validating critical peripherals (ADC, PWM, CAN, LIN, watchdogs, etc.)\n\nSupporting automation of lab and CI-based test execution\n\nCollaborate across teams - work closely with architecture, hardware, safety, and tools teams to align software with silicon capabilities and roadmap\n\nContribute to reference software and tooling to aid customers in bootstrapping their own designs\n\nAnalyse and debug complex issues using emulators, silicon, and debug tools like OpenOCD, J-Link, or Lauterbach\n\nProvide feedback into next-gen MCU architecture, based on software validation findings\n\nContribute to the wider RISC-V software ecosystem, helping to ensure support for the architecture in various open-source projects\n\nYou Should Have:\n3-6 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems software development\n\nStrong skills in C/C++ programming, with basic familiarity in assembly\n\nGood understanding of RTOS concepts (task scheduling, ISRs, semaphores, etc.)\n\nExperience debugging complex multicore systems, experience with debugging tools (OpenOCD, Segger J-Link, Lauterbach)\n\nExperience porting or developing on FreeRTOS, Zephyr, AUTOSAR OS, or similar platforms\n\nFamiliarity with bare-metal development, memory-mapped IO, and driver development\n\nExperience in bring-up and debugging on real silicon or FPGA platforms\n\nKnowledge of automotive interfaces and protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART\n\nPractical exposure to test automation, scripting (Python/bash), and version control (git)\n\nBonus Points for:\nExposure to ASIL-D software development, ISO 26262 process, or safety validation\n\nPrior involvement in post-silicon AVV or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test setups\n\nFamiliarity with RISC-V architecture, instruction sets, and toolchains\n\nExperience developing or validating motor control, powertrain, or safety-critical firmware\n\nKnowledge of bootloaders, secure update, or system startup firmware\n\nWhat You’ll Get:\nOpportunity to work on cutting-edge RISC-V platforms with real industry adoption\n\nA fast-paced, engineering-driven environment with minimal red tape\n\nMentorship from veteran CPU and embedded software engineers\n\nDirect involvement in building safety-critical systems from the ground up\n\nExposure to a full-stack SoC development lifecycle: from pre-silicon to production-ready\n\nFlexible growth path - whether you want to specialize deeply or lead in the future\n\nGlobalFoundries is an equal opportunity employer, cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
