As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.\nSummary of Role:\nThis internship is in the Failure Analysis Laboratory at GlobalFoundries’ 300mm fabrication facility in Malta, New York. The intern will gain hands-on experience with semiconductor failure analysis through sample preparation, imaging, and analytical techniques while developing an understanding of semiconductor technology and manufacturing.\nEssential Responsibilities include:\nSupport advanced analyses that meet turnaround-time requirements without compromising quality. \nCollaborate with laboratory shift teams, engineers, and managers to define analytical methods, align on analysis expectations, and interpret results. \nWork closely with Process Integration, Process Module, Product Engineering, and Customer Engineering organizations to meet technology requirements and deadlines. \nAssist in identifying opportunities to improve workflow optimization, cycle time, equipment utilization, and cost. \nParticipate in continuous-improvement activities and laboratory process enhancements. \nCommunicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with peers and cross-functional teams. \nOther Responsibilities:\nPerform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. \nRequired Qualifications:\nEducation - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship. \nMust have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. \nLanguage Fluency - English (Written & Verbal) \nTravel - Up to 10% \nAbility to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior related internship or co-op experience \nDemonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc. \nStrong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making. \nProject management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity. \nStrong written and verbal communication skills \nStrong planning & organizational skills \nRelevant coursework, research, or laboratory experience in failure analysis, wafer processing, or semiconductor materials and device characterization. \nHands-on experience with sample preparation, cross-sectioning, microscopy, or analytical characterization techniques. \nFamiliarity with one or more failure-localization or analytical methods, such as OBIRCH, emission microscopy, thermal microscopy, SEM, FIB, X-ray analysis, C-SAM, AFM, SIMS, or TEM imaging. \nSelf-driven approach, strong analytical skills, structured work style, and ability to understand complex technical matters quickly. \nProficiency in MS Office Suite. \n#InternshipProgramUS\nExpected Salary Range\n$20.00 - $40.00\nExpected Salary Range\n$0.00 - $0.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.\nIf you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please contact us by email at  let us know the nature of your request and your contact information.
