This role is responsible for integrating the semiconductor building blocks required for scalable ion-trap quantum computing hardware, spanning ion trap devices, advanced packaging and interconnect, photonics integration, and cryogenic CMOS. The position combines deep technical integration leadership with organizational management, guiding a multidisciplinary team of integration experts to deliver ion trap hardware platforms that meet performance, reliability, and qualification requirements.\nJob Summary\nThe Quantum Ion Trap Lead Integrator owns the end-to-end semiconductor integration strategy for ion-trap-based quantum systems. This includes aligning device, process, BEOL, photonics, packaging, and cryogenic CMOS technologies into manufacturable and qualified hardware solutions. As a Senior Manager / Deputy Director, this role manages a team of senior technologists and integration leads, sets technical priorities, and serves as a primary integration interface across GF organizations including design enablement, device engineering, process development, and IP.\nEssential Responsibilities\nLead the semiconductor system integration strategy for ion-trap quantum computing platforms, spanning ion trap devices, BEOL integration, photonics integration, advanced packaging, interconnect, and cryogenic CMOS.\n\nManage and develop a team of semiconductor integration experts, with primary focus areas including BEOL integration and photonics integration.\n\nDefine integration architectures, interfaces, and design rules that enable coherent system-level performance while supporting manufacturability and qualification.\n\nDrive cross-functional execution with design enablement, device, process integration, packaging, reliability, and IP teams to deliver ion trap hardware.\n\nEstablish technical requirements, milestones, and success criteria aligned with program objectives and external commitments.\n\nOwn system-level tradeoffs between performance, yield, reliability, scalability, and cost for ion trap hardware solutions.\n\nSupport hardware qualification and readiness activities, ensuring compliance with internal GF standards and external partner or customer requirements.\n\nServe as a senior technical and organizational interface with internal leadership, external partners, research institutions, and government-funded programs.\n\nCommunicate complex integration challenges and solutions clearly to executive stakeholders and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.\n\nFoster a culture of technical rigor, collaboration, and innovation across the integration organization.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation: MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Materials Science\n\nYears of Experience: 12\n\nPercentage of travel: 15%\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPhD with experience transitioning advanced research concepts into manufacturable hardware platforms.\n\nExperience working at the intersection of semiconductor technology and emerging computing architectures (quantum, cryogenic, photonic, or hybrid systems).\n\nBackground in BEOL process integration and/or integrated photonics,\n\nExperience supporting externally funded programs or joint development efforts with government, academic, or industrial partners.\n\nTrack record of setting technical direction and mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.\n\nExpected Salary Range\n$143,000.00 - $247,000.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.\nIf you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please contact us by email at  let us know the nature of your request and your contact information.
