As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.\nSummary of Role:\nGlobalFoundries is seeking a highly skilled and motivated college intern to join our Tapeout Operations team. This internship offers hands-on experience in systems and process engineering within the semiconductor design and manufacturing flow, with a focus on process optimization, data analysis, and automation initiatives that enhance tapeout efficiency and quality.\nThe intern will work directly with the Tapeout Operations team to develop automation supporting web- and Linux-based execution of the mask release process. The assignment provides exposure to leading-edge foundry electronic design automation (EDA) tools and tapeout flows, advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, technology trends, and data analysis.\nEssential Responsibilities include:\nAssist in documenting and analyzing tapeout workflows and process steps.\nSupport the development and improvement of automation scripts and tools for data handling, job submission, and web- and Linux-based mask release execution.\nCollect and analyze process metrics to identify bottlenecks, improve throughput, and propose scalable process enhancements.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, information technology, and EDA stakeholders.\nParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for tapeout-related issues.\nHelp maintain and update process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).\nOther Responsibilities:\nPerform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.\nRequired Qualifications:\nEducation - At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.\nMust have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.\nLanguage Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)\nAbility to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior related internship or co-op experience\nDemonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.\nStrong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.\nProject management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong planning & organizational skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools.\nExperience with Linux/Unix environments.\nFamiliarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, or Shell).\nExposure to version control systems.\nKnowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) is a bonus.\nBasic understanding of semiconductor design or manufacturing processes is a plus.\nExpected Salary Range\n$20.00 - $40.00\nExpected Salary Range\n$0.00 - $0.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.\nIf you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please contact us by email at  let us know the nature of your request and your contact information.
