This position will provide legal counsel on contract, litigation, and regulatory matters as well as advise on the legal impact of compliance risks. This position will serve as a legal subject matter expert in the area of consumer and automotive finance regulation, and work closely with the company’s business units in a cross-functional capacity to minimize risk, ensure best practices, and support business growth.\nHow will you drive value within the organization as a Director, Assistant General Counsel?\nProvide comprehensive legal advice to the business on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management\nDraft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements to ensure they align with the company's interests and comply with relevant laws; Manage and oversee legal review of all contracts with third party vendors; maintain records related to contracts; implement staffing and procedural strategies to streamline efficiency of contract reviews\nManage the company’s Regulatory Change Management (“RCM”) function by developing and managing processes to monitor updates to all applicable required statutes, rules, and regulations; identify potential legal risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and provide oversight of implementation process; manage, support, track, and report on operational changes and controls implemented by Compliance to ensure enterprise-wide alignment and visibility to responses to regulatory changes\nOversee the management of all litigation, working with external counsel as needed, to provide litigation strategies and review all pleadings, settlement agreements, and invoices\nDevelop and implement corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance\nExercise management authority concerning budgeting, staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations\nSet departmental goals and develop and maintain a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the business\nBuild collaborative relationships with stakeholders such as executive leadership, compliance, operational leaders, and external parties to provide legal guidance to help support business decisions\nManage the company’s corporate insurance policy renewals, including negotiation and compliance with relevant timelines\nCoordinate employee training initiatives related to consumer protection regulations in support of the enterprise Compliance Management System; conduct training sessions for employees on legal and compliance matters to promote adherence to company policies\nPerform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management\nWhat should you already know to be successful as a Director, Assistant General Counsel?\nMinimum of bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor required\nMinimum five (5) years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department required\nMust be licensed to practice law and in active, good standing in any state within the United States\nIntrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness\nExcellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nTeam player that can adapt in a fast paced and changing environment\nProficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office;
