This individual must be comfortable working independently, traveling between job sites, and building positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, and management.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct routine field safety observations, inspections, and job site assessments involving company employees and subcontractors.\nIdentify potential hazards, unsafe work practices, and opportunities for improvement, providing practical recommendations and corrective actions.\nSupport compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and established safe operating procedures.\nConduct and assist with safety training, including ladder safety, fall protection, electrical hazard awareness, personal protective equipment (PPE), traffic control, and other field-related safety topics.\nParticipate in incident and near-miss investigations, assist with identifying root causes, and recommend preventive measures.\nMonitor subcontractor safety performance and communicate concerns or deficiencies to appropriate management personnel.\nAssist with employee onboarding and safety orientation programs.\nPerform safety assessments of company offices, warehouses, vehicles, and field equipment as needed.\nMaintain accurate documentation of field observations, training activities, inspections, and corrective actions.\nPrepare weekly safety activity reports and communicate findings to the National Safety Manager and operational leadership.\nCollaborate with construction managers, supervisors, and field employees to reinforce safe work practices.\nPromote a proactive safety culture through coaching, education, and positive employee engagement.\nTravel throughout assigned Maine and Vermont markets as operational needs require.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nPrevious occupational safety experience in construction, utilities, telecommunications, or a related field.\nWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and general construction safety practices.\nAbility to recognize workplace hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.\nStrong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.\nAbility to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple field locations.\nComfortable conducting safety discussions, field coaching, and employee training.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.\nValid driver's license and acceptable driving record.\nWillingness to travel regularly throughout Maine and Vermont. Time spent 85% Maine/15% Vermont\nPreferred:\nExperience in telecommunications construction, aerial line work, underground utility construction, or related operations.\nOSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.\nExperience conducting incident investigations and field safety audits.\nExperience delivering safety training or facilitating safety meetings.\nFirst Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification or willingness to obtain certification.\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe are looking for someone who understands that effective safety management involves more than identifying violations.
