Additionally, collaborates with other faculty members of the manufacturing program and provides instructional assistance for a diverse student population; performs instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of the University.\n*This position is located inBridgeport, CT and requires occasional travel to East Hartford as necessary.*\nEssential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:\n(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.\nAssists in the weld lab and the preparation of course weld materials related to the lab.\nAssures students are using proper materials, Weld Procedures Sheets (WPS) and correct personal protective equipment.\nAssists in correct equipment settings, appropriate and safe use of welding tools and equipment prior, during and after lab exercise.\nAssists in implementing changes and improvements as necessary to maintain a successful welding technology program; reviews and updates course outlines, and course procedure sheets for assigned courses.\nParticipates in welding technology course scheduling, department, and college meetings.\nAssists in recruiting students and supporters to the program, and other special events related to the welding program.\nAssists in the management of the welding program; maintains equipment and weld supply inventory.\nFlexibility of scheduling is expected.\nConducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.\nOther Functions\nThis role may require additional training on equipment relevant to other manufacturing programs, including fabrication and production equipment.\nPerforms similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates. \nContinues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.\nAssists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.\nKnowledge, Ability and Skill:\nDemonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.\nBroad knowledge of welding techniques, theory and equipment\nCompetence in welding practices and awareness of safety standards\nA desire and enthusiasm to assist new people in the field of welding; desire to constantly improve welding and mentoring skills\nPersonal flexibility and encouragement of students\nAbility to accomplish assigned duties efficiently, effectively and competently; desire to strive for improvement and excellence in work performed\nUnderstanding of the comprehensive role of the college and the ability to cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff and the public\nQualifications\nMinimum Required Qualifications:\nEducation, Training and Experience:\nCompletion of recognized welding training certificate program, apprenticeship or equivalent.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in the welding field.
