The General Accounting Leader has the primary responsibility to support the Controllership Team to ensure the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting is timely and accurate. This position is responsible for the accounting analysis, monthly financial statement closing and support on effective internal controls in compliance with SOX, company policies, and USGAAP and Local GAAP. The General Accounting Leader also has the responsibility to interface with Internal and External Audit.\nWhy This Role Matters\nCritical role driving financial excellence and business performance: This position is essential to achieving local and regional Controllership objectives by ensuring timely, accurate financial close activities, high-quality reporting, and direct support of key business and performance indicators across the Americas and globally.\nEnhances financial accuracy and compliance: The role plays a key part in improving the accuracy of financial provisions, ensuring proper accounting treatment and supporting audits and fiscal reviews, helping maintain strong financial governance and decision-making.\nLeads process improvement and operational efficiency: By driving cross-functional alignment, leveraging automation and technology (including SAP), and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, this role strengthens data quality and streamlines critical finance processes.\nDevelops talent and guides teams through change: Success in the role requires strong leadership, coaching, and influencing skills to develop team members, support organizational transitions, adapt to shifting priorities, and help the team navigate a dynamic business environment.\nWhat you'll do\nResponsible for the financial reporting processes accurate and timely. This includes the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement closing procedures, account reconciliations, and establishing judgmental reserve balances. \nEnsure processes are in compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company Policies.\nAccomplish with SOX requirements.\nSupport on audit activities with internal and external auditors.\nSupervise Intercompany and Accounts Payable Transactions.\nProvide timely and accurate account analysis and reporting.\nAnalyze accounts under his responsibility explaining any deviation or pending items.\nResponsible for the upkeep and upgrades of the accounting systems and for accounting initiatives.\nMaintain accounting entries aligned with company policies and local requirements.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives related to finance processes and systems.\nBuild organizational capability for innovation through training and other avenues.\nMaintain effective communication and relationship with local and regional leadership team.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nBachelor's degree in Public Accounting.\nAdvance or Fluency in English and Spanish.\nDesired: Master degree or certification in Finance.\nMinimum 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting / analysis in multinational companies.\nStrong analytical skills; able to understand complex data and issues with demonstrated ability to think outside the box.\nPeople management skills; ability to develop team members through coaching and feedback.\nTrack record of achieving measurable business objectives.\nThorough understanding of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, accounting for complex transactions and internal controls in compliance with SOX.\nStrong knowledge, understanding, and practical skills in relevant systems (i.e. ERP system (SAP preferred), MS Office products,) as applicable to the country.\nConsulting skills, including the ability to draw on the ideas of key team members and convert them into meaningful plans.\nInterpersonal skills that establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly. Creates team atmosphere while achieving key objectives.\nDemonstrates understanding of how key accounting decisions impact the business units and forecasted operating results/cash flows.\nKnowledge in consolidation process.\nKnowledge in Factory, Supply Chain and logistic process.\nGoodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies.
