Google is an American technology company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and now the principal subsidiary of Alphabet, headquartered in Mountain View, California. It operates the world's dominant search engine and the advertising system built around it, along with YouTube, Android, Chrome, Gmail, Maps, Workspace and Google Cloud, reaching billions of users across nearly every internet-connected market. The company designs its own silicon in the Tensor Processing Unit line, develops the Gemini foundation models through Google DeepMind, and derives most of its revenue from advertising while cloud has become its fastest growing segment.

About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish - working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As an Program Manager on the Search Ads and Ads on Google Experiences (SAGE) Operations team, you will independently manage the full lifecycle of cross-functional business and operational programs that power a 2,000+ person organization. Acting as a team multiplier for SAGE executive leadership and engineering pillars, you will lead core operational rhythms including non-payroll OpEx and resource governance, quarterly prioritization, OKRs, organizational change management, and executive communications. You will combine structured program management with modern GenAI tools and automation to streamline complex processes, surface actionable insights for senior leaders, and balance immediate operational needs with SAGE’s long-term strategic goals.

Google Ads is at the forefront of AI innovation, applying cutting-edge machine learning and Generative AI models like Gemini to power a multi-billion dollar global business.

Our work directly impacts billions of users by protecting users from harm, improving ad quality, and optimizing campaigns for advertiser return-on-investment. We foster a culture of deep collaboration, partnering closely with teams like Google Research and DeepMind to solve complex challenges. Join us to work on state-of-the-art AI, take on problems at an unparalleled scale, and build the next generation of advertising technology.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of core SAGE operational programs, including non-payroll OpEx budget planning and governance, quarterly priority intake, OKRs, and organizational change management.
  • Design, automate, and continuously improve operational systems and workflows, leveraging GenAI tools, agentic workflows, and data analytics to eliminate manual toil, streamline reporting, and scale governance across the organization.
  • Define and resolve ambiguous cross-functional challenges independently, exercising sound judgment to adjust program levers (timelines, resources, scope, and trade-offs) and balance immediate operational priorities with longer-term organizational objectives.
  • Bridge organizational silos between SAGE pillars and central Ads and Commerce (A&C)/Finance partner teams, proactively managing dependencies and translating top-down mandates into simple, low-friction processes that protect engineering velocity.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and executive comms by synthesizing financial, resource, and program data into clear, tailored status reports and decision frameworks for leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of cross-functional programs from scoping and planning through execution and governance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in business operations, chief of staff/strategy operations, or financial/OpEx budget management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adopt and apply Generative AI tools, prompt engineering, and workflow automation to streamline recurring business processes, synthesize unstructured data, and scale operational impact.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous business problems and translate large datasets into clear executive recommendations.
  • Communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority, manage senior stakeholder expectations, and navigate changing priorities with composure and attention to detail.
