Location: Santa Barbara, California, USA\nJob Type: Full-time, regular employment\nResponsibilities:\nCollaborate with vendors on the design, testing, and development of new cryogenic systems.\nTroubleshoot issues related to cryogenic systems and implement appropriate solutions.\nValidate system designs through thermal modeling and requirements analysis.\nPartner with cross-functional teams to define and implement research and development (R&D) projects;\nDesign, develop, and commission increasingly complex cryogenic systems to support Google Quantum AI's roadmap toward commercially useful fault-tolerant quantum computers.\nSupport the development of next-generation cryogenic technologies and contribute to their performance.\nWork closely with vendors, partners, and collaborators to support development and production while ensuring timely delivery, performance, and cost-effectiveness.\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field such as Optics, Sensors, or Audio/Digital Signal Processing (DSP), or equivalent practical experience.\nAt least 3 years of experience in design validation, including thermal modeling and requirements analysis.\nAt least 3 years of experience working on cryogenic system projects.\nAt least 3 years of experience with ultra-low-temperature cryogenic systems operating below 1 kelvin.\nPreferred:\nMaster's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, such as Optics, Sensors, or Audio/DSP.\nExperience with cryogenic-temperature thermal modeling and analysis.\nExperience designing, building, and debugging cryogenic systems.\nProgramming ability in C++ and Python.\nStrong familiarity with MATLAB or similar signal-data analysis tools.\nBenefits and Compensation:\nAnnual base salary: $132,000 to $189,000 USD.\nTarget bonus: 15%.\nEquity: Equity compensation may be granted at Google's discretion, subject to applicable agreements and approval.\nAdditional benefits: Access to Google's employee benefits program.
