The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.\nWith your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).\nAs a Data Center Services Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the field-level implementation and operational support of Google’s rapidly expanding data centers. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical distribution systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, swiftly, and with high quality. This involves managing site-level mechanical engineering issues, ensuring compliance with design standards and local regulations, supporting quality assurance, and providing technical guidance to vendor teams. You will be a strong communicator and collaborator who will grow on construction sites and has experience with mechanical systems, ideally within mission-critical facilities, heavy industrial, oil and gas, or semiconductor industries. \n\nBehind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.US: $144000 - $208000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits\nLearn more about benefits at Google.\nResponsibilities\nProvide technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements for multiple data center projects from inception to completion.\nCollaborate with DCDE core teams to develop, implement, and manage the data center (DC) mechanical designs at site starting from basis of design (BOD) to issued for construction (IFC) data center services documents for new DC projects build outs, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations.\nRespond to site specific engineering requests for information (RFI) in coordination with engineer of record (EOR). Manage site bug process and coordinate with DCDE cross functional teams for technical support.\nParticipate in new technology insertions through collaboration with the engineering team to provide site specific requirements during the development of site specific BOD.\nOwn and manage all site level mechanical system issues during the project execution phase.\nQualifications\nMinimum qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n5 years of experience in design, construction, and commissioning of either chilled water cooling systems, air handling systems, fire suppression systems, plumbing systems, or underground dry/wet utilities.\n5 years of experience with electro/mechanical assembly and mechanical testing procedures including resolution and comprehensive documentation maintenance for mechanical designs.\n5 years of experience in mission critical facility design, construction environments, and their mechanical infrastructure.\n5 years of experience with data center operations and working with mechanical contractors and cross-functional project teams.\nPreferred qualifications:\nMaster's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant fields, or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.\nExperience in designing modular building scale assemblies, with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.\nKnowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles with a focus in the areas of design for medium-scale production, structural beams/elements, and international building codes.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4629,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Operating Systems","Streaming & OTT Platforms","Foundation Models","Consumer Internet Groups"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-26T07:46:53Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker, Senior or Specialist Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker; Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-03T21:09:13+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":33,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.442,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":26,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:late","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-04T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/google-senior-data-center-mechanical-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/google-senior-data-center-mechanical-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-05T03:29:51Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4707,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":293,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-06T00:00:00Z"}}}
