Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.Fuchsia is a modern, open-source operating system that’s simple, secure, updatable, and performant. Today, it powers Google’s Nest Hub Smart Display products. We work in the open - our code and reviews are open source: fuchsia.dev.\nThe Fuchsia WLAN Core team is part of Fuchsia’s Connectivity organization. Our goal is to bring reliable WLAN connectivity to Fuchsia. The Core team implements to the 802.11 specification, working closely with Driver and Policy teams to develop a full WLAN stack.\nThis opportunity is to participate in the development and sustenance of WLAN features for Fuchsia, integration and end-to-end tests, and power-save capabilities. We have a long roadmap to meet the feature set of today's flagship devices. Impact on Fuchsia's hardware platforms can be seen and felt quickly.\nFuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits\nLearn more about benefits at Google.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop WLAN features, focusing on 802.11 spec correctness.\nWrite, review, and maintain Python-based WLAN tests that run in Fuchsia's infra connectivity test lab.\nContribute to the next generation of infra device architecture for Fuchsia connectivity.\nImplement and monitor device metrics for crashes, performance, and feature rollout.\nIdentify opportunities for improving the efficiency and performance of our software stack.\nQualifications\nMinimum qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.\n2 years of experience with software development in the Rust programming language.\nExperience in software engineering in a wireless networking environment.\nPreferred qualifications:\nMaster's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.\n2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.\nExperience developing accessible technologies.\nExperience developing wireless networking protocols and devices.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3251,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Operating Systems","Streaming & OTT Platforms","Foundation Models","Consumer Internet Groups"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-25T16:14:42Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:3","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-26T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/google-software-engineer-iii-fuchsia-wlan-core","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/google-software-engineer-iii-fuchsia-wlan-core.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-27T00:56:45Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":847,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4153,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-28T00:00:00Z"}}}
