As part of this group, the GovTech Anti-Scam Products (GASP) team develops solutions to detect, disrupt and deter scammers at scale - spanning data infrastructure, AI/ML-powered proactive detection, partner API integrations, and front-end systems for enforcement agencies. Beyond scams, our work extends to tackling terrorism, child sexual exploitation material, youth and family digital wellbeing, and AI safety risks and deepfakes.\n\nWho Are We Looking For\nBring your engineering expertise and problem-solving ability to fighting scams with technology. You will deliver features that span multiple components, make sound trade-offs between speed, quality and maintainability, and take growing ownership of the systems you build.\nWe use cloud services and open source wherever possible: AWS, React / React Native, and a mix of SQL/NoSQL databases, among others. Knowing what to build versus what to reuse lets us focus on delivering value rather than re-solving solved problems.\n\nAs a software engineer, you will:\nBuild POCs and features spanning multiple components to demonstrate technological opportunities.\nContribute to system architecture and design decisions, with mentorship on cross-component trade-offs.\nWrite and review production-quality code, and expand test coverage across key workflows.\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud deployments, and own observability for what you ship (logging, metrics, SLIs/SLOs).\nParticipate in incident triage and resolution, escalating complex issues appropriately.\nUse AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery, reviewing AI-generated code to the same bar as human-authored code.\n[Requirements]\nMust have\nPython, JavaScript and/or TypeScript\nStrong knowledge of AWS Cloud\nStrong knowledge of algorithms and data structures\nAbility to deliver moderately complex, multi-component features with growing independence\nGood knowledge of IaC (such as Terraform)\nExperience with creating GitLab CI/CD templates for different use cases\nPreferred\nRunning containers or serverless services\nBuilding high-scale, low-latency APIs and deploying scaled AI/ML solutions\nData-intensive frameworks and data warehousing (e.g. AWS Glue, Spark); bonus for graph databases (e.g. Neo4j)\nEvent-driven and streaming architectures using SQS/SNS/EventBridge; bonus for Kinesis\nWe're here to improve how we live as a society through what we can offer as a government.
