You'll work directly with the CPO and own entire customer-facing product areas from whiteboard to production.\nOur users run billions of dollars in government contracts through GovSignals. You'll plan, build and ship features daily, and you'll own them once they're live. When something you built breaks at 9pm you are the one who fixes it. The work arrives as a goal rather than a spec, and you decide what to build.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\nTake ownership of high-impact product areas and ship customer-facing improvements daily, from whiteboard to production.\n\nRapidly iterate on UI, UX, and core application logic based on real user feedback and production data.\n\nDecompose ambiguous product goals into clear engineering plans, execute them, and measure outcomes.\n\nWork with the deployment team and directly with customers to understand where the product falls short, then decide what to do about it.\n\nOur stack: Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase, SvelteKit, TypeScript, Trigger.dev, Postgres, UDS.\nWHAT YOU BRING\n5+ years of full-stack engineering with a proven record of shipping customer-facing features end-to-end.\n\nGovernment or defense experience: building software for government users, working at a defense tech company, military service, or contracting work on either side of the table.\n\nStrong frontend TypeScript skills with modern frameworks (Svelte/SvelteKit strongly preferred; React/Next.js acceptable).\n\nHands-on Postgres and backend TypeScript experience. You have designed schemas, written migrations, and optimized queries.\n\nAbility to decompose ambiguous problems into shippable increments and communicate tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.\n\nComfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where priorities shift and you own the outcome.\n\nNice to have: AI-first UX patterns, RAG pipelines, or AI agent architectures; experience in FedRAMP, IL, HIPAA, or other regulated environments; open-source work.\nClearance: not required. An active or previous clearance is a plus.\nTHE TEAM\nGovSignals was founded by four cofounders who lived with this problem from both sides (selling to the government and serving inside it) with backgrounds across the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Energy, Palantir, Amazon, federal contractors building for missiles, and state contractors building for prisons.
