You'll have the independence to manage infrastructure and solve problems while collaborating with a small technical team supporting a busy editorial environment.\nThe position is based in the Raleigh area and combines remote systems management with regular on-site data center work. Some travel to Greenville, NC, is also required.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nInfrastructure & Systems\nMaintain and improve the reliability, performance, and availability of critical production infrastructure.\n\nHandle physical infrastructure work, including server installations, equipment upgrades, cabling, and hardware maintenance.\n\nAdminister Windows and Linux servers, virtualized environments, and essential network services.\n\nMonitor system performance, investigate incidents, and coordinate hardware or software support with vendors.\n\nStorage, Backup & Archiving\nSupport large-scale shared storage environments used by editorial and production teams.\n\nMonitor storage utilization, troubleshoot performance issues, and plan for future capacity needs.\n\nManage media archiving and retrieval, including LTO tape libraries, data verification, and off-site storage.\n\nMaintain reliable backup and recovery processes to protect production assets.\n\nNetworking & Production Support\nTroubleshoot network connectivity, bandwidth, and performance issues across production infrastructure.\n\nSupport high-speed networks, switches, VLANs, firewalls, and related services.\n\nWork with editorial teams to resolve technical issues affecting media access, file transfers, and production workflows.\n\nAssist with infrastructure improvements and expansion projects.\n\nAutomation & Improvements\nDevelop scripts and tools to simplify routine administration and improve operational efficiency.\n\nSupport integrations between local infrastructure and cloud-based storage services.\n\nMaintain technical documentation and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and workflows.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n5+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical role.\n\nHands-on experience supporting servers, networking equipment, and data center infrastructure.\n\nStrong knowledge of enterprise storage systems, including NAS/SAN technologies and shared storage environments.\n\nExperience with LTO tape libraries, media archiving, or large-scale backup systems.\n\nSolid understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and high-speed connectivity.\n\nExperience administering Linux, Windows Server, virtualization platforms, and Active Directory.\n\nFamiliarity with macOS environments and supporting creative or technical users.\n\nExperience with scripting or automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.\n\nAbility to communicate effectively with both technical teams and nontechnical users.\n\nBased in Raleigh, NC, or willing to relocate, with availability for on-site work and occasional travel.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience in media production, post-production, broadcast, VFX, or animation.\n\nFamiliarity with storage platforms such as Qumulo, PowerScale/Isilon, Avid NEXIS, or SNS EVO.\n\nExperience with archive solutions such as Spectra Logic, Quantum, Archiware, or SGL.\n\nKnowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or other professional editing applications.\n\nExperience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), media asset management systems, or file transfer technologies.\n\nRelevant networking, storage, or cloud certifications.\n\nExperience in media and entertainment is a plus, but we're also interested in strong infrastructure engineers from other industries who are eager to work in a production environment.\nCompensation & Benefits\nThis is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with our client.\nCompetitive base salary of $130,000-$170,000, depending on experience\n\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\n\nLife insurance and HSA contributions\n\n401(k) with employer matching\n\nFlexible paid time off and company holidays\n\nCompany-provided technology and equipment\n\nRelocation assistance available for qualified candidates\n\nGPL Technologies is committed to providing equal employment opportunities throughout the recruitment process.
