This position is aligned very closely with Marketing Managers and Manufacturing Cell Managers. Life cycle management includes managing all new product development, standard product maintenance, ongoing cost reductions, and small projects associated with assigned product families.\nContribute to improving Graco's profitability by providing new product design and development leadership that results in the timely release-for-sale of innovative, low cost, high quality products that safely and effectively handle our customers most demanding applications.\nWhat You Will Do At Graco:\nEstablish and maintain 5 year product plan with Marketing Managers and drive new product ideas through technology development\nSeek out and apply relevant existing and developing technology - both from within Graco and from industry.\nDevelop and document knowledge on all competitive products\nManage and execute all new product development projects\nManage and execute all Standard Product support by closely following field and manufacturing issues, and drive product changes to address the issues\nEstablish cost reduction plans and implement in coordination with Manufacturing Cells and Purchasing\nWork closely with Manufacturing in support of 1st pass test improvement, process improvements and qualifications\nEstablish annual engineering budgets for all engineering expense and capital and provide detailed expense reporting on project basis\nEstablish and implement staffing plans, succession planning strategies, and personnel development and training activities\nWork closely with other Engineering Manager(s) to ensure sharing and propagation of technology, platforms, cost reductions, process improvements, etc. across all product families\nDirectly supervise Lead Engineers and Project Engineers. Supervision of Project Engineers can be assigned to Lead Engineers at discretion of Product Family Engineering Manager\nMentor Lead Engineers in project management and personnel management to develop bench strength of future larger management roles\nParticipate or drive engineering process and policy changes to continuously improve department efficiency and output\nMeasure and interpret group new product design, development and release for sale performance.\nRecruit, train and develop well qualified, highly motivated engineering, designer, and technician staff.\nPrepare and conduct formal annual performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports and perform annual salary planning\nEncourage and support the professional, technical and business development of self and staff.\nKeep upper management informed of product design and development progress and issues.\nSupervises either directly or indirectly a group of up to 30 designers, technicians, and engineers\nOther duties as assigned.\nWhat You Will Bring To Graco: \nBachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent\nDemonstrated long term commercial success of assigned product families (Incremental revenue, Warranty expense, Earnings contribution, etc.)\nDemonstrated long term strategic technical planning of product family portfolio\nMinimum 9 years experience in design and development of products including project management experience with demonstrated ability to produce innovative and successful products.\nA minimum of 6 years supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and develop others\nExperience managing a technical group of people\nExperience with engineering computer based applications\nExperience with Simultaneous-Engineering product development process\nExperience with fluid handling equipment development, design, or application\nResponsible Engineering Manager for relatively large product families (in terms of revenue and impact compared with Grade 13 Product Engineering Managers)\nDemonstrated superior communication, organization and planning skills\nDemonstrated ability and credibility to work effectively with outside work groups (Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, IS, Sales Force, etc)\nDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executive management\nDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with distributors and end users\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent and unrestricted basis.
