Gradient builds the autonomous robots that make it possible.\nPartnered with the world's largest AI infrastructure companies and backed by the industry's best investors, we move fast and build full-stack systems that matter.\nAbout the role\nWe're looking for an Electrical Engineer to be the backbone of how Gradient Robotics reads and controls its machines. This is intentionally an end-to-end ownership role. You'll own electrical hardware design from concept to working system while partnering closely with mechanical and software teams on whatever is highest leverage at any given moment. This is a role for someone who loves bringing hard problems to life: you'll see a thorny instrumentation or controls challenge, research the right approach, design the electronics, and debug it until it works. You'll touch every machine we build, which means real ownership and room to grow quickly. The impact is significant: the electronics you design become the nervous system of our robots, and the control interfaces you build let the whole team move faster.\nResponsibilities\nOwn electrical hardware design end-to-end: partner with mechanical engineers on instrumentation and actuation solutions, build out electronics systems using custom PCBs or off-the-shelf industrial components to read and control the machine, and debug the system and write firmware to give the software team a solid control interface\n\nOwn hard problems: research and develop solutions to a wide range of challenging electrical instrumentation and controls problems, then bring them to life\n\nOwn documentation and compatibility: maintain up-to-date documentation in a fast-iterating design environment, and help ensure compatibility across mechanical and software teams\n\nDesign and debug industrial automation electronics and PCBs\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBackground in electrical controls engineering\n\nPCB design experience\n\n1-4 years of electrical design experience (exceptional new grads with strong project or internship experience are welcome to apply)\n\nAn obsession with quality: driven to see projects not just done, but done well\n\nPrior design work you're proud of: products, internal projects, student teams, etc.\n\nInitiative and self-direction, with creative problem-solving and the ability to debug thorny issues that span multiple systems\n\nA strong electrical generalist who thrives through continuous learning\n\nAble to work on-site in San Francisco 5 days/week (6 days/week if needed during crunch time), embedded in the team\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience at a hardware, robotics, or industrial automation company\n\nFirmware development experience (embedded C/C++ or Rust, motor control, communication protocols)\n\nComfort using AI tools to multiply your own output\n\nIf you’re driven and have the initiative to tackle any sort of problem in your way, we want you here. It’s okay if you’re qualifications don’t completely match ours but you know you’d kill it in this role. A defining trait here is that we’re aggressively trying to learn everything we can about robotics. If you’ve got the passion and ability to do just that, then you’ll succeed here. Apply.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3240,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":1,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Continuous learning"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-12T14:50:40Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":8,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.284,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":83,"expected_fill_days":16,"reasons":["conf:0","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-13T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":170000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/gradientrobotics-electrical-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/gradientrobotics-electrical-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-13T17:35:19Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":26796,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-14T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4416788},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4416788"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgradientrobotics-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgradientrobotics-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgradientrobotics-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/gradientrobotics-electrical-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgradientrobotics-electrical-engineer"}]}
