We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.\nGeneral Summary\nSupervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in construction, installation, and repair of wooden structures and fixtures.Essential Job Accountabilities\nExamines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure.\n\nLays out floor-plan and cabinetwork, using rule, framing square, and calipers.\n\nSelects materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, and cabinets of wood or plastic, and paneling, and inspects them to insure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance.\n\nDetermines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure.\n\nAssigns workers to such tasks as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring.\n\nInspects work performed by subcontractors, including ductwork, wiring, and pipe installations, to insure conformance with specifications.\n\nInstalls doors, builds stairs, and lays hardwood floors.\n\nMay supervise workers engaged in building timber structures, such as cofferdams, trestles, and supports for concrete forms.\n\nMay make cost estimates for contracts. Performs other duties as described under Supervisor.\n\nMay be designated according to area of specialization.\n\nEducation\nHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience\n\nWork Experience\nAppropriate training and experience required\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nPhysically, the worker must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.\nIntellectually the worker must be able to apply and interpret principles of rational systems (bookkeeping, engines, electronics, building), to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must have basic competencies in algebra, geometry, and shop mathematics.
