The primary responsibility of this role is the daily operation of excavators and bulldozers, with the secondary requirement of operating the site water truck as a backup driver. A valid Class A CDL is strictly required for this position.Essential Job Accountabilities\nEquipment Operation: Operator excavators and bulldozers daily with high precision and safety.\nBackup Driving: Operate the site water truck to support operations when backup driving is needed.\nSite Safety: Maintain situational awareness and adhere to all safety protocols on active jobsites.\n Licensing: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).\nExperience: Proven experience operating excavators and bulldozers.\nDrives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.\nPrepares receipts for load picked up.\nCollects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.\nMay maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.\nMay maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.\nMay load and unload truck.\nMay inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.\nMay perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.\nMay position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit. \nEducation\nHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience\nLIcense\n Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) \nWork Experience\n1 to 3 yrs. experience\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nWorkers should be able to:\nRead and interpret road maps\nPractice good safety habits\nWork in dusty or dirty surroundings\nFollow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling\nJudge distances and weights accurately\nMake decisions based on verifiable standards.\nPhysically, workers must be able to:\nStoop, bend, and crouch\nUse hands, arms, and legs fully\nSee well (either naturally or with correction)\nLift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.\nAbout Granite Construction Incorporated\nGranite Construction Incorporated is a member of the S&P 400 Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction Company, one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers.
