We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.\nGeneral Summary\nThe GPS Technician supports field operations by ensuring accurate layout, elevations, and grading using GPS and surveying equipment such as Machine controls, Total Stations, and Drones.Essential Job Accountabilities\nConfigure GPS base stations, rovers and automated machine controls on heavy earthmoving and paving equipment.\nPerform grade checking to verify elevations, slopes, and alignment according to project plans.\nOperate, maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment, total stations, and laser levels\nInterpret blueprints, site plans, and staking information\nSet and verify control points, hubs, and offsets\nCommunicate grade and layout information clearly to operators and field crews\nMonitor and ensure accuracy during earthwork, paving, and utility installation\nMaintain daily records of measurements and site activities\nOther duties as required.\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or GED, preferred.\nWork Experience\n2 years of experience in grade checking, surveying, or GPS Machine Control, Total Stations and or Tablet Data Collector\nExperience working with Trimble GPS, Topcon, or similar.\nDrone License Part 107, preferred.\nExperience utilizing Civil 3D design software to complete project needs \nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nAbility to wear a full body harness and work at heights while tied off.\nAbility to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).\nAbility to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.\nAbility to work in safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.\nAbility to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.\nAbility to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces.\nPhysical Demands\nPhysical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to: grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.\nLifting, pushing, pulling of heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.\nAbout Granite Construction Incorporated\nGranite Construction Incorporated is a member of the S&P 400 Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction Company, one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers.
