It is a great way to experience the heavy-civil industry and Granite Construction. Many students are able to get course credit, please check with your faculty advisor, and at the same time earn an income while learning. Accountabilities:\nCommunicate with foremen and superintendent to learn about field construction operations and to provide support.\n\nEstablish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, & the local community.\n\nAssist the project engineer with approving timecards in Heavy Job, and ensure all equipment and employee time is accounted for accurately.\n\nProvide support with verifying quantities in FIS (Field Information Systems) and log quantities for cost and revenue tracking.\n\nAssist the project engineer with generating and distributing daily cost reports (trucking, labor, equipment) to the project manager, foreman, and superintendent.\n\nAssist with the completion of daily reports documenting both Intermountain Slurry Seal and subcontractor activities.\n\nPlace necessary material orders, survey requests, locates, etc.\n\nAssist with the calculations of yields of materials used such as concrete, aggregate base & asphalt.\n\nSupports the jobsite daily with the project manager or engineer to verify quantities claimed are correct and to stay current on overall job progress.\n\nAdditional responsibilities as needed.\n\nEducation\nCurrently enrolled in a Construction, Engineering, or related undergraduate program at an accredited 4-year university.\n\n Knowledge, skills, and abilities:\nExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.\n\nAbility to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.\n\nProficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook\n\nAvailability and willingness to travel frequently\n\nBilingual English/Spanish (Preferred but not required)\n\nPhysical Demands:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders in a construction/ plant environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include at least 20/30 Snellen in one eye and 20/50 in the other, with or without corrective lenses. Adequate hearing, with or without a hearing aid.
