We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.\n General Summary\nJob Description SummaryThis position is responsible for preparing detailed estimates based on the design documents, narratives, and specifications, focusing on the Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Electrical/Technology/LV System (MEP) trades for our Federal Division.\nEssential Job Accountabilities\nAble to work independently without much supervision and be able to work well with a team of estimators.\nCommunicate mechanical and electrical estimate and scopes of work to estimating team, management including participate in estimate reviews with estimating team, management, and JV partners.\nPrepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage (LV) system items incorporated in assigned scope from conceptual design through completed construction documents.\nReview and understand all bid documents and assess project risks\nUnderstand project logistics and project schedules\nDevelop relationships with local & national Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Technology, LV system, and any associated services subcontractors, vendors and suppliers. Work with estimating team to build and maintain list of qualified vendors for projects.\nWork with estimating team to ensure General Conditions and General Requirements (GC/GR) items are properly addressed in estimate including, but not limited to, items such as temporary heating/cooling, electrical power and lighting (including estimating of electrical and other utility consumption during construction), and other temporary utility work as required.\nPrepare and assemble estimates and proposals for different contract types (e.g., lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus).\nAbility to utilize BIM software to assist in both pre-construction and construction tasks related to MEP\nParticipate in estimate hand-off to Operations and conduct proper transfer of knowledge from Estimating to Operations teams.\nDevelop and solicit scope requisitions for bidding/procurement of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV system systems; coordinate with fellow estimators to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.\nEvaluate subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work; determine scope coverage and manage risk of scope gaps.\nAssist project operations staff in evaluating large change orders.\nGather and analyze Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and LV system bid data for projects. Maintain historical cost database and unit cost pricing for ROM estimating.\nUtilize quantification and cost estimating tools and/or software in use by the estimating team (Heavy Bid, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, etc).\nMay supervise Assistant MEP Estimators, Estimating Assistants and/or Interns.\nOther activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.\nTravel may be required for site visits, pre-bid meetings or other estimating operation support tasks.\nEducation\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.\nWork Experience\n7+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.\n4+ years estimating experience related to Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage System estimating experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.\nExperience with Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) or other alternate contract delivery types will be viewed more favorably\n Knowledge, skills, and abilities\nProficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off and Primavera Scheduling software.\nAdvanced knowledge of Estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar direct estimating software, BlueBeam, and AutoCAD.\nAdvanced knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, Technology, and Low Voltage systems\nAdvanced knowledge of construction principles\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nAdvanced knowledge of agency (U)DBE requirements\nFamiliarity with BIM software\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
