The QC Engineer helps ensure construction operations, both onsite and offsite, meet quality standards and contract-specific requirements through inspections, testing, documentation, and coordination. This role supports compliance with FAR 52.246-12, project drawings and specifications, approved submittals, and customer requirements under the direction of the QC Manager.Essential Job Accountabilities\nQuality Control Program ManagementAssist in maintaining an effective QC system to ensure contract compliance using client-required software, including QCS/RMS, eCMS, or other designated systems.\nSupport implementation of the Three Phases of Control: Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up.\nConduct specification reviews and assist with the development, review, and tracking of submittals.\nReview test reports; maintain testing, submittal, and RFI logs; and prepare QC Daily Reports.\n\nProject Oversight and CompliancePerform field inspections to verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods comply with contract documents and approved submittals.\nIdentify deficiencies, support corrective actions, and verify completion.\nCoordinate with testing laboratories, specialty inspectors, subcontractors, and project personnel.\nParticipate in Coordination and Mutual Understanding Meetings, audits, inspections, and quality reviews.\nSupport compliance with applicable safety, hazard identification, environmental, and sustainability requirements, including EM 385-1-1 and OSHA.\n\nTechnical and Stakeholder SupportMaintain inspection records, test results, quality documentation, and compliance reports.\nAssist project teams with interpretation of quality-related drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.\nEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with job-site personnel, government representatives, subcontractors, testing companies, and technical staff.\nSupport project closeout, final inspections, and turnover documentation.\n\nEducation/Certification\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field required.\nCQM-C certification recommended. If not current or established, the employee should enroll in the course within the first year of employment.\nWorking knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements preferred.\nWork Experience\nTwo or more years of construction, engineering, inspection, or quality control experience preferred.\nFederal construction experience and experience with QCS/RMS, eCMS, or similar owner-required systems preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.\nKnowledge of construction materials, methods, testing, inspection, and quality control practices.\nStrong organizational, documentation, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to balance multiple priorities and work effectively with project teams, customers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF viewing/editing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
