General Summary
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of hydraulic, friction and/or crawler cranes to lift, move, position and/or reposition heavy loads on a construction site.Essential Job Accountabilities
Responsible formaintainingsafe crane operations as per company andmanufacturersprocedureswithin the crane’scapabilities.
Ensure that the crane is configured according to themanufacturesload charts, rangediagramsand recommendations.
Ensure that any deficiencies that affect the safe operation are repaired beforeoperatingthe crane.
Perform daily preand postshift,safetyinspections, completeappropriate documentationin compliance with company policiesasrequired.
Ensurethat all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctlyrigged.
Ensure that the boom angleand/or radius of the crane arein accordance withthe load charts andrangediagrams.
Support crew when notoperatingcranewith general duties to complete work.
Mayoperateotherheavy equipment including but not limited to forklifts, skid steers.
Ensure work area and equipmentisclean and free of safety hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma,GEDor equivalent years of experience.
Work Experience:
One (1) to three (3)yearspreviouscrane operating experience, preferably on heavycivil construction projects including bridges, highway,transit,and rail.
CurrentNCCCO Crane Operator Certification,required .
Experienceoperatingheavy equipmentincluding but not limited to forklifts, skid steers,preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge ofrigging andload limits.
Knowledge and understanding ofvarious typesof rigging equipment, basichitches,and their applications.
Knowledge andunderstanding ofstandard hand signalsand communicationsfor controlling crane operations.
Ability to calculate and determineappropriate liftingequipment.
Ability tooperateequipment within designatedareawith attention to detail.
Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).
Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.
Ability to work insafetysensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces.
Physical Demands:
Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to: grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.
Lifting, pushing,pulling ofheavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
