This includes responsibility for technical support of QC operations, QM initiative development, and process improvement activities generating/disseminating best practices to ensure compliance with Granite Construction standards of expectations.Essential Job Accountabilities\nActively participate in development of corporate Quality Management initiatives and implementation of them to ensure compliance with quality standards and value added benefit to customers.\n\nAssist and support QC Managers with execution of overall QM programs and establishment of operation specific quality programs to assure compliance with contract requirements.\n\nProvide technical support for QC Managers and operations to ensure rapid resolution of technical challenges, customer service, and knowledge transfer needs.\n\nProvide technical support for review of RFPs to determine quality requirements, mix design review, and determination of optimum QC plans to meet requirements while minimizing risk and cost.\n\nContinually participate in process improvement activities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, then develop and disseminate best practices and standard operating procedures based on them.\n\nBe actively involved in QC staff development to assure a highly engaged workforce and succession planning.\n\nPerform QM audits of area, region, and project quality operations to assure compliance with project specific and corporate compliance standards.\n\nAssist QC Managers with development of quality budgets and forecasts are and use to achieve positive financial performance.\n\nDevelop, maintain, and leverage relationships with key regional and state public agency technical staff, customers, and engineering firms.\n\nParticipate in and promote Granite’s safety procedures to promote a safe working environment including compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.\n\nEducation/Certification\nBS in Engineering desired or equivalent work experience\n\nRegistered Professional Engineer desired\n\nISO Internal Auditor Certification desired\n\nWork Experience\nBS in Engineering and 10 years experience or 25 years technical/managerial experience in construction and construction materials.\n\nKnowledge, skills, and abilities\nExpert knowledge of quality management concepts and audit procedures\n\nProficient with database operations and Microsoft Office Suite\n\nExcellent communication and organizational skills\n\nSelf-motivated\n\nPhysical Demand\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.\n\nThe employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard.\n\nThe employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.\n\nThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\n\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.\n\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\n\nAdditional requirements\nValid driver’s license\n\nAbility to travel\n\n Our Benefits at a Glance:\nBuilding tomorrow starts with you, and Granite knows that you can excel only if we support you in and out of the workplace.
