Interprets and applies Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T). Measures, inspects, tests and verifies machined, welded and finished parts for conformance to specifications. Operates, sets up, and (as applicable) programs CMM’s, height gages, comparator, etc. Provides support for quality projects dictated by the Quality Leadership.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n Supports First Piece, In-Process, Final, and F.A.I. Inspections.\n Interprets blueprints or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.\n Verifies specified dimensions of product or raw material using verniers, micrometers, intramics, CMM, height gages, comparator, scales and or/other tools.\n Measures angular dimensions, radii, height, thickness, location, thread lead, and other specifications.\n Computes angles, radii, and other unspecified dimensions of work piece by using sine bars.\n Measures surface finish of parts. Inspects first run parts and assemblies.\n Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds. \n Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.\n Tests parts for hardness.\nCompares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.\n Identifies, documents, and clearly communicates nonconforming conditions. Segregates and tags defective parts and records defect details in accordance with quality procedures\n Writes reports regarding inspection and testing results.\n Operates, sets up, and (as applicable) programs Mitutoyo CMM’s and FARO Arm.\n Supports inspection duties, quality objectives, and the Quality Management System.\nStudies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.\nVerifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.\nAssists in other areas in support of product conformity.\nWorks cross-functionally with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues in real time and support production flow.\n Facilitates effective communications and working relationships (including answering department phone).\nDemonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.\n Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers, and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.\nAbides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.\nRequirements\nTwo-year certification from college or technical school; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nAbility to operate, set up, and (as applicable) program Mitutoyo CMM’s.\nMust be able to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).\nMust have the ability to work as a team player in a group or team environment and must be able to work independently without supervision.\nMust be flexible enough to work in all areas of operation per the direction of the Leadership.\nA personal and professional background sufficient to secure a Government Security Clearance is required.\nAdvanced knowledge of inspection, plating & coating processes and raw materials a plus.\nDue to the nature and importance of GSM’s work, our positions require access to export-controlled information.
