We design advanced semiconductors and data center hardware that provide the specialized processing power needed to advance AI while improving the efficiency required for broad adoption.\nAs part of SoftBank Group, Graphcore belongs to a family of companies developing transformative technologies. Our AI Engineering Campus in Austin plays an important role in building the hardware platforms that support the next generation of AI systems.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are looking for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to join the Mech/Thermal Platform team as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. You will contribute to the mechanical design, thermal validation, and verification of advanced AI hardware and data center systems.\nYou will work with experienced mechanical, thermal, hardware, and systems engineers throughout the development lifecycle. The role combines 3D computer-aided design, prototype evaluation, lab testing, data analysis, troubleshooting, and clear engineering documentation.\nWhat You Will Do\nCreate and update mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings using Creo or comparable 3D CAD software.\nTake ownership of defined mechanical design tasks from requirements and concepts through detailed design, review, release, and verification.\nApply mechanical design, materials, manufacturing, heat transfer, and thermodynamics principles to engineering decisions.\nDevelop mechanical and thermal test plans and procedures for prototypes and development systems.\nSet up and operate laboratory equipment, collect accurate data, analyze results, and document conclusions.\nEvaluate prototypes and identify mechanical, thermal, assembly, or manufacturability issues.\nSupport design verification, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of verified design improvements.\nMaintain accurate engineering documentation, including design notes, drawings, test procedures, results, and change records.\nCollaborate with thermal, electrical, hardware, systems, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to resolve cross-functional issues.\nPresent progress, results, risks, and technical recommendations clearly in design and test reviews.\nFollow applicable engineering processes, configuration-control practices, laboratory procedures, and safety requirements.\nWhat You Will Bring\nA bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, completed recently or expected before the role begins.\nA strong foundation in mechanical design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, materials, manufacturing, or related engineering principles.\nExperience using 3D CAD software to create parts, assemblies, or engineering drawings through coursework, research, internships, or projects.\nAbility to plan technical work, analyze test data, document results accurately, and draw evidence-based conclusions.\nA structured approach to problem-solving, troubleshooting, and engineering investigation.\nClear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.\nCuriosity, sound engineering judgment, and willingness to learn unfamiliar tools, systems, and laboratory methods.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Creo or another professional 3D CAD package.\nHands-on experience setting up laboratory equipment, conducting tests, recording observations, and reporting data.\nExperience evaluating prototypes, fabricating parts, or completing mechanical design and build projects.\nExposure to thermal management, electronics cooling, servers, data center hardware, or advanced computing systems.\nFamiliarity with mechanical design verification, tolerance analysis, engineering change processes, or configuration control.\nExperience presenting design work or test results in a technical review setting.\nThese qualifications are helpful, not required. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.\nEqual Opportunity and Accommodations\nGraphcore is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.\nGraphcore is committed to an inclusive and accessible hiring process. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in the application or interview process, please let the recruiting team know.\nCandidate Privacy\nPersonal information submitted during the recruiting process will be handled in accordance with Graphcore's applicable candidate privacy notices.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4726,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Processors, MCUs & AI Chips","AI Chips & Accelerators"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-24T02:04:11Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":6,"expected_fill_days":69,"reasons":["conf:7","velocity","win:early","comp:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-30T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-graduate-mechanical-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-graduate-mechanical-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T01:39:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1113,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3887,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
