We design advanced semiconductors and data center hardware that provide the specialized processing power needed to advance AI while improving the efficiency required for broad adoption.\nAs part of SoftBank Group, Graphcore belongs to a family of companies developing transformative technologies. Our AI Engineering Campus in Austin plays an important role in building the hardware platforms that support the next generation of AI systems.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a Systems Engineering Intern, you will contribute to projects that combine hardware, firmware, and software engineering for advanced AI compute platforms. You will work with experienced engineers on subsystem design, laboratory testing, system validation, automation, and performance analysis.\nThe internship provides hands-on experience with modern hardware development and system-level engineering. You will own clearly defined technical tasks with guidance from the team and document your methods, results, and conclusions.\nWhat You Will Do\nSupport the design and testing of CPU and high-speed input and output subsystems for advanced compute platforms.\nRun laboratory tests and measurements to help evaluate performance, power, signal behavior, and reliability.\nContribute to system-level validation by creating scripts and tools that streamline testing, data collection, and analysis.\nExplore emerging input and output technologies, including PCIe 6.0 and 800G Ethernet, and learn how they support advanced computing workloads.\nAssist with investigations into platform power, cooling, and energy efficiency, including liquid-cooling systems for high-performance processors.\nUse power meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or comparable lab equipment under appropriate supervision.\nAnalyze test results, identify unexpected behavior, and work with engineers to reproduce and investigate issues.\nCollaborate across hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, thermal, and systems teams to understand how components operate together.\nMaintain clear test procedures, scripts, data summaries, and engineering notes.\nCommunicate progress and technical issues clearly and follow applicable engineering, laboratory, and safety procedures.\nWhat You Will Bring\nCurrent enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.\nExperience with hands-on lab testing and technical measurements through coursework, research, student teams, internships, or personal projects.\nExperience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, C, C++, or MATLAB.\nFoundational understanding of computer architecture, digital systems, embedded systems, or hardware-software interaction.\nAn analytical approach to problem-solving and interest in understanding how hardware and complete systems operate.\nAbility to document technical work, explain findings clearly, collaborate with others, and respond constructively to feedback.\nWillingness to learn unfamiliar tools and technologies and seek guidance when needed.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience using power meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or similar laboratory equipment.\nAcademic or project exposure to CPU subsystems, PCIe, Ethernet, high-speed interfaces, or platform validation.\nExperience creating test automation, data-analysis tools, or engineering scripts.\nInterest in platform performance, power delivery, thermal management, liquid cooling, or energy efficiency.\nExperience gained through research, hackathons, student engineering teams, or personal hardware projects.\nThese qualifications are helpful, not required. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.\nEqual Opportunity and Accommodations\nGraphcore is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.\nGraphcore is committed to an inclusive and accessible hiring process. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in the application or interview process, please let the recruiting team know.\nCandidate Privacy\nPersonal information submitted during the recruiting process will be handled in accordance with Graphcore's applicable candidate privacy notices.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4540,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Semiconductors","AI Chips & Accelerators"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-24T02:04:11Z"}],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":70,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-24T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-hardware-platform-development-intern","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-hardware-platform-development-intern.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-25T00:58:14Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":898,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4102,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-26T00:00:00Z"}}}
