You’ll bring fresh ideas, put your learning into practice and help shape what we’re creating. Along the way, you’ll tackle challenging problems with a team who welcome your questions and support you as you build your skills and confidence.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nPut your engineering foundations to work exploring the electronic hardware behind Graphcore’s AI compute platforms.\nYour internship could focus on Hardware Design, Signal Integrity or elements of both, depending on your interests, the available projects and how your strengths develop. You’ll contribute to a clearly scoped design, analysis, validation or debugging task, with guidance as you work towards a conclusion supported by evidence.\nIn Hardware Design, your tasks could include schematic and circuit design, component evaluation, PCB development, board bring-up or laboratory testing. You could help check power rails and clocks, exercise interfaces, investigate faults or develop test and debug access.\nIn Signal Integrity, you could explore high-speed links such as PCIe and Ethernet, DDR and other memory interfaces, or clocks and timing-critical signals. Tasks could include reviewing PCB layouts and routing, simulating interconnect behaviour or comparing laboratory measurements with analysis to understand design trade-offs.\nYour team and support\nHardware Design and Signal Integrity engineers work closely with PCB layout, silicon, validation, firmware, mechanical and thermal engineering, manufacturing and system teams. You’ll see how different engineering perspectives come together to make complex boards work.\nStaff Hardware Engineers and Team Leads will support you with clearly scoped work and regular technical guidance. You can ask for help as you explore unfamiliar concepts, discuss your findings and use feedback to improve your approach.\nDecisions are shaped by simulation, measurement and engineering judgement. As an intern, you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, speak up and try out ideas early, with support from experienced engineers as you learn.\nHow you’ll learn and grow\nOver the 12 weeks, you’ll connect your studies with how boards are designed, analysed, brought up and validated. Your project will help you develop a methodical approach to defining a problem, testing your thinking and explaining what the evidence shows.\nYou’ll gain exposure to professional tools such as Mentor Expedition, Ansys HFSS and Keysight ADS, as relevant to your work. Comparing simulations, design choices and laboratory results will help you understand how real hardware behaves and which areas of hardware engineering you’d like to explore further.\nYour internship is a chance to explore a future at Graphcore. Depending on your performance and the roles available, there may be an opportunity to join one of our graduate programmes once you’ve graduated.\nWhat we're looking for\nCurrently studying towards a degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or a closely related technical discipline\nStrong electrical and electronic engineering foundations, with an interest in hardware design or signal integrity and how real electronic systems work\nA logical, first-principles approach to unfamiliar problems, with practical engineering experience from university projects, laboratory work, personal projects or activities such as Formula Student, robotics or engineering societies\nThe ability to work with measurements or technical data and explain your conclusions clearly, with curiosity, willingness to take ownership and openness to feedback and collaboration\nYour interests might include schematic design, PCBs, component selection, bring-up, validation, test or fault finding; or transmission lines, impedance, reflections, crosstalk, simulation and electronic measurement.\nPrevious industry experience and professional experience with the tools listed above are not required. Tell us what you built or investigated, how you approached it and what you learned.\nBenefits\nFlexible working: Find a balance between your internship and life outside work\n5 days of annual leave: Take time to rest and recharge during your 12-week internship\nLife in the office: Get to know your colleagues in spaces designed for collaboration, with free food, a great selection of ice cream and an on-site barista\nLearning and development: Build your skills and explore your interests with access to O’Reilly, our online learning platform\nWe welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences and are committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone can do their best work.\nWe’re an equal opportunity employer and recognise that everyone brings different strengths and perspectives. If you need any adjustments during the interview process, just let us know - we’re happy to support you.\nSponsorship\nApplicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme, without requiring visa sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor work visas for our Early Careers opportunities. \nIntroduction to Graphcore\nAt Graphcore, we’re building next generation AI compute: From semiconductors and software to systems at datacenter scale. We are proud to be owned by SoftBank Group and work with other companies in the SoftBank family to deliver AI compute to customers working at the AI frontier.\nAn internship at Graphcore gives you the chance to explore where your interests and skills could take you. You’ll work alongside people with different backgrounds and expertise, from AI researchers to chip designers and software engineers. Together, you’ll share ideas and solve challenging problems, building experience and confidence to help you decide what comes next.\nHow to apply and what to expect\nTo apply, answer the application questions below and upload your CV and cover letter. We’ll let you know the outcome of your application by early December at the latest. If successful, you’ll be invited to complete a technical assessment. Candidates who reach the final stage will then be invited to attend in-person assessments in early spring. \nCurious about where your skills could take you? Apply for a summer internship at Graphcore and help us build what comes next.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6607,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Annual leave","Flexible schedule"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Processors, MCUs & AI Chips","AI Chips & Accelerators"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-20T11:22:55Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker; Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-21T06:25:45+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":69,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:early","comp:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-21T05:46:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/graphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-22T03:32:25Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3352,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-23T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":33},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=33"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgraphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgraphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgraphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/graphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgraphcore-hardware-summer-intern-2027"}]}
