Build the infrastructure that controls and secures it.\nThe Role\nWe are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build product experiences and the APIs behind them. You will turn operational data into clear visualizations and help customers configure and govern APIs and AI agents.\nAs Gravitee expands its AI Agent Management capabilities, you will help build interfaces for configuring AI Gateways, governing MCP and agent-to-agent interactions, discovering tools and agents, and monitoring how agentic systems behave in production.\nThis is a hands-on, full-stack role for an engineer who is comfortable moving between frontend experiences, backend APIs, data models, and technical design.\nWhat You Will Be Doing\nIn this role, you will:\nDesign and deliver features end to end, from discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and iteration.\n\nBuild and maintain features of Gravitee API Management across the gateway runtime, the management API, and the console, including the move to Gamma.\n\nWork across API security (OAuth2, JWT, API keys, mTLS), rate limiting and quotas, CORS, and other policy and plugin chains that sit in the request/response flow.\n\nDesign and develop Java-based APIs and services, applying asynchronous and non-blocking design patterns (Vert.x/RxJava with backpressure) to performance-sensitive gateway code.\n\nBuild clear, responsive interfaces and data visualizations using TypeScript and Angular, including observability views over Elasticsearch/OpenSearch logs and metrics.\n\nHelp customers configure and observe Gravitee's AI-related capabilities, including AI Gateways, MCP tools and servers, agent identity, and agent-to-agent interactions.\n\nModel and transform operational data so that complex platform behavior becomes understandable and actionable.\n\nOwn US-hours Level 3 and Level 4 escalations for APIM customers as part of the L3 pager duty rotation.\n\nUse LLMs and AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully for prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging, and exploration, applying sound engineering judgment to validate AI-generated work.\n\nWrite meaningful automated tests and contribute to reliable delivery practices.\nCollaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and technical leaders - including the APIM team based in Europe and India - to discover effective solutions and improve them through code and design reviews.\n\nShare what you learn and help the team make practical choices as technologies and protocols evolve\n\nEssential Skills\nWe are looking for evidence that you can succeed in the role, whether gained through employment, open-source work, or equivalent practical experience:\n5+ years building and running production backend software, on a team that ships and supports its own product; you have personally resolved production incidents.\n\nStrong Java experience and experience designing maintainable REST APIs and backend services, with Maven and a reactive stack such as Vert.x/RxJava with backpressure.\n\nStrong TypeScript and modern frontend development experience using a component-based framework (Angular preferred), including building data-rich interfaces and visualizations.\n\nWorking knowledge of API gateway and reverse-proxy architecture: request lifecycle, policy and plugin chains, entrypoints/endpoints, and sync and event-driven APIs.\n\nAPI security fundamentals: OAuth2, JWT, API keys, mTLS, rate limiting and quotas, CORS.\n\nExperience with persistent data stores such as MongoDB or relational databases, and with search/analytics technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.\n\nGit-based workflow, code review, and writing your own automated tests.\n\nHands-on experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants as part of an engineering workflow, combined with the judgment to review and improve their output.\n\nClear communication, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to take an ambiguous problem through to production\n\nDesired Skills\nYou do not need to match every item. We would be especially interested in experience with:\nExperience at an API gateway, proxy, or service-mesh vendor, or on the API platform team of a large company (e.g., Kong, Google Apigee, MuleSoft, Tyk, Solo.io, Traefik, WSO2).\n\nKubernetes operators and CRDs; OpenAPI tooling; service mesh or Envoy experience.\n\nDocker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native application delivery.\n\nModel Context Protocol (MCP), Agent2Agent (A2A), tool calling, LLM proxies, or other emerging AI protocols and standards.
